The claim is they are harmful to their language and their culture. If only we could do that here in the United States.

Given that their language is gendered unlike ours, ummm yeah it is. Leftists heads would explode if they spoke Spanish or French.

So much of their entire language is based on “gender.” I’ve been curious as to how all the Romance language people were addressing this nonsense.

Honestly save for WWII, they tend to have been this through most of history.

It’s hard for pronouns and Islam to take over in France because The French have self-esteem and don’t hate themselves. I mean, they have tons of Muslim immigrants for a long time and they’re still like “nah, we aren’t doing burkas here”.

World War II was a failure of leadership, not of soldiering. They were outmaneuvered in the Ardennes because of shitty generals (Charles Huntziger in particular) who couldn't see the obvious threat. Once the French actually fought the Germans head to head and in the open, they did fairly well against them. By that time, however, it was a lost cause and thus all of the fighting they did was for naught.

Learning Spanish in preparation for our move. The gendered nouns and adjectives are frustrating, but we plan to assimilate so we figure it is the price of admission. We are ok with that.

The French have an entire bureaucracy in their government just to decree which new words and phrases are legitimately French and which that aren't. I used to think it was sort of silly, but now I wish all English-speaking countries had this as well for our language.

I do not speak fluent French - but my recollection from HS is that there is no unisex version of the word “the”

Every object in France is referred to by the articles La or Le

La is the feminine
Le is the masculine

ETA France would literally have to change it’s entire language-that’s not an exaggeration

You can't speak the French language without gender. Gender neutral language is an impossible thing and literally strikes at the heart of everything French.

Ironically, “Latinx” is being used by left leaning white people who decided that calling Hispanics “Latino” is sexist.

France has always lead. It's one of the reasons we're in a clown world right now.

American English is far less gendered than the Queen’s English, although the latter is being heavily influenced by the former. Proper British English has feminine versions of many words: Aviator/aviatrix, tailor/seamstress, host/hostess, actor/actress, hero/heroine, etc.

Most of the feminine words have disappeared from American English and ours is fast becoming a completely gender neutral language. The Americanization of Britain is having a profound effect on their language. Predictions are that within 100 years American English will be dominant in Great Britain.

I'm curious how Germany is handling it, with them having neutral-gendered nouns, pronouns, articles, adjectives, etc. (Der, Die, Das)

It would be hell with the multiple cases (nominative, accusative, dative, and genitive) and the different endings for adjectives.
