He's definitely got a bunch of security but being out there is still substantially more risky than I am sure the security would prefer.
He's pretty exposed. You might not be able to walk up to him but that doesn't mean he isn't reachable being out there like that

Truth.
The Secret Service wasn't enough to secure the site. They had to call in the Military as well.
IIRC, There's no precedent in world history for the kind of protection POTUS gets on a daily basis.
POTUS is the most protected VIP on the planet, even more protected than Queen Elizabeth and the Chinese and Russian Presidents.
