Benito was a hardcore leftist in his earlier days. Actually got kicked out by that party. The west actually thought that he could mediate fairly at Munich. He and Hitler had met before the conference at the Brenner Pass and Hitler gave him his instructions. They pulled the wool over Neville's eyes.

Putin is claiming now that he is cleaning out Nazi's. He was claiming suffering of ethnic Russians for awhile also. NATO was also mentioned. Security alignments going back to pre 1999 was demanded also. I wish that he would stick to a script.
I don't blame Putin for not wanting NATO on his doorstep, but that is not the only reason that he invaded. Read his speech/long essay from last summer. That laid it all out. His speech on the day of the invasion was pretty revealing also. Putin and the Russians still believe in spheres of influence. Cold War mentality is still alive and well in Moscow and with some in DC.
What is going to be his reason if he goes in to Moldova?
