Autumn is the least convenient time of the year to have record high diesel prices

We are getting into peak diesel season globally which means one of 3 things
1. Cost push inflation of diesel makes a number of products more expensive
2. We face actual shortages
3. Demand destruction will put a cap on the upper bound of diesel pricing
It's quite obvious to everyone that neither one of the above is an inherently good thing
It's worth noting that on an inflation adjusted basis we have dealt with higher diesel prices before in 2008.
What drives diesel demand this time of year? Typically 3 things: Harvest season, heating oil requirements (heating oil is chemically similar to diesel as both are distillates and pull from the same supply). Then retail and freight shipping. Retailers stock up on inventory ahead of holidays adding to freight demand.
This isn't all due to the Iran conflict. The Russia/Ukraine conflict is also having an impact.
One good take away - thankfully so far we've had a quiet hurricane season and hopefully that continues to hold. We definitely don't need any natural disasters affecting any gulf coast refining capacity.
Do what you will with this information.

They just need to roll back the EPA rules on sulphur content in diesel to pre-1993 levels and then it would be a lot cheaper than gasoline like it used to be.
Climate clowns are responsible for a good chunk of inflation due to this bullshite. Diesel should be $.50 less than gas’s.
$3.28 instead of $6.20 would make a big difference I would think.

Some of our refineries will go into turnarounds as well, but I bet that’s priced in the forecast already for the traders.

There is a nice drop in lung cancer cases/deaths YoY that aligns perfectly with the early 1990s air emissions standards.

Gas and diesel are both down .25 in N TX from early this week. Chicken and several other items including eggs are down when I went to Wal Mart this week from last week. I have found Wal Mart is usually the first to drop prices when they are on their way down then the other chains will follow.

I just know that 85,000 +/- chicken wings can be transported in a tractor trailer rig that is currently spending about $1,200 per 300 gallon fill up. So, my wife and I are setting aside 1 wing per dozen per bag we freeze to save dollars and trim waistline.
