When the constituents are minorities and predominantly Hispanic, they’re ok with it.

No it’s not. It’s a fricking awesome city that is widely regarded. I know folks will be pissed at the move, but Austin’s pretty damn nice.

Judging by the Mopac expansion... there’s already a shortage.

It's basically a giant Baton Rouge with even worse traffic.

Austin is a whiiiiite city. Rare to see any minority. The constituency being served here are white-guilt laden sky screamers.

Take out the fluff, and that seems to be exactly what they are doing. Do they sincerely think that Hispanics would stop shopping in the city because one of the city contractors helped build a border wall?

In a state as big and red as Texas, only about 10-15% vote and it’s predominantly the conservative caucasians that do.

So, in a nutshell, the main populous does NOT like DT

That's quite an impressive assumption you have there. Kudos.

The University of Texas is a cancer in the state.

If you want Austin to come around, threaten UT with a 25% cut to funding.

Does the average Dem politician not realize that the current president was elected simply because the average American is tired of overly-politicized, waste of time, career politician pandering identity politics just like this?

It may be too soon in the upcoming midterms, but I guarantee you we will see a new "John Q. Everyman" trend sweep the nation's electorate in the coming years. Trump set the mold and laid the groundwork, while the Dems continually make things worse on themselves and push the population further in that general direction because they're panicking and digging deeper in an attempt to regain their foothold.

It'll probably never make a difference in places like Austin but the general population is growing increasingly tired of this constant social engineering BS.

If a contractor is the LOW Bidder & aaustin stiffs him , then suits will follow and a Austin will lose big time

Sounds like an easy win that will once again cost tax payers $$$$ and not the council.

I fricking hope so. If a contractor provides a service to a legal entity (gubment for Christ sake) and then is openly refused in other bid consideration? I hope they sue and win.

Not to mention austin officials are stating these things OUT LOUD???
