City Council members announced their solidarity Thursday with Austin’s immigrant community by pledging not to conduct any city business with border wall contractors.
So who do you bastards represent? The citizens of Austin, or illegals?

quote:

“In Austin we build bridges, not walls,” said Mayor Steve Adler.

The resolution passed 10-1, with Council Member Ellen Troxclair dissenting.

quote:

Austin is one out of dozens of cities across the U.S. joining the coordinated boycott of border wall contractors in an effort to delay construction of President Donald Trump’s controversial border wall.

quote:

But Council Member Delia Garza said by taking this stand, Austin is “not supporting the current divisive efforts that encourage racism and discrimination that would isolate Austin from its cultural and economic partners.”
Ummm... Ms Garza blacklisting contractors doing legitamate work for he US Government is as decisive and discriminatory as one could possibly get.

McCarthyism is alive and well in the Democrat (sic) party.

They will just file a discrimination lawsuit against the city and they will win.

Every major metro area in every state is like this now. It's not just Austin. Though they are among the worst.

It’ll be interesting how this affects consultants like Dannenbaum Engineering who are hard targeting Fed work on the wall......esp with Jim Dannenbaums connections with UT

(Lol. They are even mentioned in a lawsuit downsouth for some under the kilt angling for the border wall work.)

What the frick is wrong with these people. They have a sickness

If you are against a wall you are siding with ILLEGAL immigration. Legal immigrants don’t have to worry about a wall.

Democrats always try to create a straw man of legal immigration. This is about stopping ILLEGAL immigration. Something no american should be against

Does the Austin Mayor also support prostitutes as he does illegals?

Why does any member of any society support illegal immigration? It’s ILLEGAL.

They are hypocritical socialists that “believe in” globalization while flying around in private jets in $1,000 suits on taxpayer money. HYPOCRITES.

Austin is messed up, and they’ll never change.
The rest of the world (outside of Travis County, anyway) knows that.
It’s not even worth discussing.
Just chuckle and move along.

In the metro areas, yes. Suburbs no. Austin extends beyond just downtown. Although my in laws are in Austin and MAGA. But they are surrounded by people like Austintigerdad that undermine Americans and keep on sky screaming for illegals.

In Plano and other Dallas suburbs, you don’t see that as prominently.

So a baker can’t choose to not make a cake for a gay wedding but a City can decide not to do business with a company that builds a wall.

Depends on the crossing.
ATX to either Eagle Pass (Piedras Negras) or Laredo is about a 3 1/2 hr drive.
Del Rio (Ciudad Acuna) is just under 4 hrs.

I can understand the argument for cost of the wall. But why would you not want a wall? That's saying we do not want a border.

Can I refuse to pay taxes in Austin because I do not recognize their city limit wall?

Austin is the liberal bubble of Texas, but you must understand that many of the major Texas urban areas have as many legal Hispanics as Caucasians. These people are largely originated in Mexico and their family ties are strong. Houston’s majority is actually Hispanic at around 37% vs 36% white.

In a state as big and red as Texas, only about 10-15% vote and it’s predominantly the conservative caucasians that do.

So, in a nutshell, the main populous does NOT like DT.....he small voting minority does but at the City level the majority gets active.

If they get a contract for 590 miles of wall, do you really think they'll be begging Austin for work?

WTF is wrong with people letting their city gov spend time in shite like this?

As the crow flies it appears to be around 250 miles. I googled it (Austin - Mexican border) but they wanted a town name.

Just curious, how much of an impact will their decision have on the contractors if 200+ miles away? How does San Antone feel about this? They are closer.
