Hey man, I try to admit when I’ve been wrong, that’s the only way to try and improve as a person. Lesson learned (should have learned it after Micheal Brown) from now on I’m going to work on waiting for the facts before making judgements, it’s something I’m emotional about and I need to control that better.

Props to you, sir. It always irritates the hell outta me when people jump to conclusions and make knee-jerk decisions without being privy to all the facts, so my apologies for being an arse in the other thread. I shouldn’t have called you a piece of shite. You’re clearly not.

I hear ya. I need to be better about it. This whole situation the last two weeks on top of everything else going on in the world is just disheartening. You want your kids to grow up in a world where right is right and wrong is wrong and I fear I can’t trust that to be the case much longer.

This whole thing is really sad because Rayshard didn’t seem like a bad guy. He was dressed well and he was pleasant. It’s truly terrible that he engaged in actions that he may not have otherwise had he not been intoxicated....and those got him killed. He made a bad decision and the cop didn’t want him to die. I think we can all agree on that. But in a matter of 40 seconds, at least two lives are forever altered (one ended entirely).

Yep, biggest damn reason I’m getting out of NYC, it’s turned into a shite show here and I don’t want my kids being raised here. Ironically, we are moving to Atlanta so I’m not sure how much better it will be.

Yep, just a bad situation all around. The body cam video 100% gave me a different perspective from the cops view and made me feel terrible for him. You could tell he had no interest in escalating the situation, he just did what he had to do, to keep his partner and himself safe.

But then he wakes up still intoxicated and attempts to drive home.

Plus if he gets robbed or something, its the cops fault.

They used to do that years ago but due to DUI getting so out of hand and groups like MADD pushing for zero tolerance the police no longer had leeway in these situations.

The most likely reason a young person will die unexpectedly is via their vehicle

Clouding conciousness/reaction time does not help your chances

Yes he was cooperative and cordial for a relatively long time, then as they were simply going to arrest him he wigged out, made some terrible choices, and decided to go over the edge of reason. A snap decision that was terribly wrong, and the policeman, also respectful and also cordial, should not have been put into that position.

I guess it's possible to feel empathy for Rayshard and yet think his shooting was justified.

It’s just being a decent human, I think. He wasn’t a bad guy. I’d have had a drink with the guy, but in no way do I blame these officers for what happened. That’s the issue today; people can’t be in the middle on anything. It’s either all-in on this side or all-in on that one. No room for rational thought.

There is not a single Democratic politician in this country that is not both completely phony and completely Incompetent. At this point, I would be willing to buy professional black grievance warriors the gasoline to burn down their city. I’m at the point where my patience for those who can’t THINK has gone from amusement to malice. I want them to experience the fruit of their malice. frick everybody who pretends this guy got anything less than what he earned.

You want to talk about George Floyd- I’m with you. You want to talk about this suicidal idiot? frick you.

If there is ANY way for you to not LIVE in Atlanta, I would strongly suggest you make that effort. I get it if you need to work there, but don’t find yourself embroiled in these riots if you can avoid it. They won’t end with these. It’s hard enough to keep your kids safe without being stuck in that town guilty of being the wrong color.

See, if they had done that, as soon as they left he would probably drive off. They can’t just let that happen, the dude didn’t even know where he was. It’s a terrible situation all around but the cops did what they were supposed to do and it sucks that it ended in Brooks losing his life but he made the decision to take the taser and fire it, the consequences of that action are 100% on him.
