If there is ANY way for you to not LIVE in Atlanta, I would strongly suggest you make that effort. I get it if you need to work there, but don’t find yourself embroiled in these riots if you can avoid it. They won’t end with these. It’s hard enough to keep your kids safe without being stuck in that town guilty of being the wrong color.

My company and my wife’s law firm offices are both in downtown but we are looking at the suburbs, specifically Johns Creek. Luckily with the price we will be able to list our Apartment in the Upper West Side we will be able to put a massive down payment down on a house. We have no interest in staying the city, that’s one of the biggest reasons we are living. We want our kids raised in the suburbs like my wife was, were they can go out and play and have a backyard.

Good on ya.

Make sure you look closely at travel times from various points to where you need to be for work. It’s crazy how long point A to point B can take for some locations given how close they are to downtown.

True, Rayshard seemed like a decent dude from that video. Don't know why he snapped.

That is the most interesting part of all of this, he was cordial and likeable up until the arrest and the cops were as well. It makes it all the more surprising that this ended like this, but it also reiterates how difficult a police officers job is and why they always have to be on edge or could lose their life at any engagement.

Yeah that’s going to be a major adjustment, I haven’t had a car in 10 years, been taking the subway. Going to be weird for a little while lol.

wrong. If lethal force was used when he was fighting with them and the officers feared their life was in danger, that's one thing. They fired at him as he was running away from a DUI arrest. Even with the perp having a taser, lethal force was completely unnecessary.

eta - If there are less than 100 downvotes on this post I will be disappointed.

Eta2- I’ll admit I’m wrong. When he turned and pointed that taser at the cop it was night-night. Perp did everything wrong - and I said originally he probably should have been shot after he was wrestling with the cop and grabbed the taser. Cop deserves his job back and restitution.

Btw - there is no way they should have let him “sleep it off”. I have a zero tolerance policy for drunk driving, perp had to be arrested

A drunk driver has probably never killed one of your loved ones I presume. You're a mentally deranged POS if you really believe that.

Clown world.

When you wrestle with LEO, steal his weapon, any weapon, and engage him with it, he is not waiting around to see what happens after you engage him. Guy could have had a gun on him. He’s obviously wreckless and a danger to the public at that point.

This is the problem. Everyone agrees that despite being an awful human being, Gf did not deserve to die and the cop should be prosecuted. He is guilty.

But in that moment, the actions of what happened in this instance are not even close to equal. The cop was justified in this scenario, as awful as it is. If this guy pointed this weapon at your family, and you reacted the same as this cop, no one would blame you.

What is the purpose of the dog and pony show for dwi arrest? The entire thing is BS. Just ask them to do the breathalyzer and get straight to the point.

I think you have to establish probable cause. You can’t just walk around breathalyzing people and breathalyzers are hard to get admitted to court as evidence

It's a messed up situation. In hindsight, I don't think the cop was in mortal danger when he shot the guy in the back, but in the heat of the moment after just being shot at by the taser, I don't know what I would have thought.

I know this. If we are going to prosecute cops for this kind of thing, we are quickly going to run out of cops who are willing to answer calls.

There are decent areas above the perimeter serviced by Marta (gold or red line, I think). Might be worth considering if you’re already used to the rail ride.

Being passed out in a Wendy’s drive thru is enough I am sure. If the guy would have just said call my attorney I am not speaking do you think he would have walked away Scott free? They had enough.

The walking of the line etc is such BS Aand it has been proven everyday cops cannot tell the difference between drunk and nervous/clumsy.

He could be passed out for any number of reasons. They’re probably just following procedure

Um no. The cops can't let him just walk home, wtf are you talking about? The guy was trying to get away, he had a weapon, he pointed the weapon, and he was taken out.

Trying to leave is part of the problem dumb arse.
