By Summer convention? Or do you have to make the switch this Spring for an effective campaign?

Considering primaries are under way, I’m guessing they can just install someone whenever.

I’m guessing they will do it before the convention to coalesce their support and rally around the new candidate.

Effective campaign?

What? Do you not remember the “hide’n Biden” campaign of 2020?

Democrats don't need to campaign. They need to ballot harvest.

Whenever they want. It doesn’t matter.

Or during the convention. Make a big show of it, Michelle announcing
that she didn't want to become involved, but is willing to "step up" to the task in order to protect America from Trump and his deplorables.
Some spin such as that.

Feels to me like they are giving away the next four years. Almost like they are going for a long play with hoping the power grab is to actually give Trump the next 4 years and make a power run after that.

If it doesn't happen within the next month (by the time most of the delegates are awarded), it'll have to happen on the convention floor. Delegates would be up for grabs and could vote for anyone they want at that point.

There was a good episode of Veep that went through all this

It's too late legally.

There are laws requiring registration that the deadlines have already passed. These laws have been tested (used against Ron Paul for instance) to keep candidates off ballots. There is a legal history to keep last minute candidates suppressed.

They don't need input from the people. The party elites can plug in whoever they want at the convention.

They cry about 'democracy ' but that's just talk.

They will install who they want as VP and let Biden croak on day 1 of office.

It's too late to get on most state primary ballots, yes. If a candidate with pledged delegates drops out, those delegates are up for grabs at the convention.

AFTER DNC convention. that way they can "select" whomever they want........

...... they fear the vocal fringe in their own party would pick another Bernie or Squad type candidate.
