Ever wonder why the Democrats who constantly scream about gun control and who want to take away guns from law abiding citizens never, ever talk about gun violence in cities like Chicago?
Btw, Mayor Brandon Johnson offered "thoughts and prayers" for the families of the victims. Usually, offering thoughts and prayers is enough to send Democrats into fits of rage

Those killed by gunfire include a 21-year-old shot in the chest Sunday, an 18-year-old shot in the armpit Saturday evening and a 50-year-old shot in the chest Friday.
At least 12 people in a crowd on a Chicago street suffered gunshot wounds Friday evening after an SUV pulled up and two people inside started shooting, police said.
The eight men and four women in the group ranged in age from 17 to 47. They were being treated at four hospitals. Police said another man suffered unknown injuries and refused medical treatment.

Here's the salient statistic: Chicago saw 416 murders last year.
Here's another one: At least 45 people have been shot in Chicago in less than 48 hours and yet it's so normal for that city that it's not the lead story in every media outlet.
Don't try to normalize this. It should be abhorrent to us all.

And to what would or do you attribute that stark drop, if those statistics are to be fully believed and accepted? There’s only been one very large “change in things” in that general timeframe that could or would precipitate such a notable change in circumstances.

Crime in Chicago followed the general pattern of everywhere in the US
Dramatic rise in the mid-70s through mid-90s, then dramatic fall well below those levels that plateaued around 2014 or so. Then in 2021 or so crime spiked dramatically, and then in 2023 it started falling dramatically (in many places getting historic lows in 2025).
If your city didn't follow this pattern it was the outlier.
