Exactly. They are experiencing some degree of independence from parental supervision for the 1st time ever. The weak desperately thirst to latch on to something that makes them feel important. College is the 1st time that most of them have had a true indoctrination effort pushed on them free of buffers that can somewhat intercede during their HS years.

If the University obliges and withdrawals him it’s absolutely grounds for a lawsuit. He was acquitted so should not face discrimination from a public university.

ASU should start a Title IX disciplinary investigation against those groups. They certainly meet the definition of using hate speech and harassment of another student.
Their school charters should get revoked.
Imagine if one of the fraternities started this type of protesting about a black student who had been charged but never convicted of a crime.
