That’s New Testament, how about this Old Testament one:

Thou shalt not steal

Since the OP is personalizing the government, why doesn’t she comment first on the government stealing that takes place for all their corrupt projects?

Ephesians 4:28 — “Anyone who has been stealing must steal no longer, but must work, doing something useful with their own hands, that they may have something to share with those in need.”

By their fault you mean being a junkie?

I take it you have never been exposed to junkies on a large scale.

No matter how much you help or give them, they will still steal from you.

I have and yes, I agree. You absolutely must avoid being drug down by them.

No, I just wonder to what degree one helps them. I do believe they have to seek help themselves earnestly though we both know that they often will fake earnestness.

There's a lot of things I don't agree with AA on but one of their tenets is the addict/alcoholic must seek help and you cannot fix them.

Also, I see a lot of people professing to be Christians but then turn around and verbally assault others here. I get the sports side is meant for fun mostly but we both know that's not usually the case on this board.

There's a lot of fake Christians in the movement. "Not perfect but just forgiven" hurts Christianity in the long run. Faith alone is truly not enough.

Collective actions are not "moral" no matter how much you try to spin it.

You get zero credit for voting for income redistribution, just to make you feel better about yourself. If you want to help the poor, get off your arse, stop voting for other peoples money and go help the poor.

I feel for junkies and people who are in difficult circumstances, but the answer isnt collective, the only person that can help a junkie is the junkie.

You seem to be an adherent of Saul Alinsky. And appear to be using this Alinsky rule:

quote:

"Make enemies live up to their own book of rules, since they can “no more obey their own rules than the Christian church can live up to Christianity”

If you want to become a junkie choose hard liquor because the government will make sure the liquor stores are open for full hours even during pandemics war apocalypse etc

The Government throws billions at them already. The number of redundant organizations all receiving funding for addicts is insane. We have tried that way, and nothing has improved yet you want to keep throwing money at it out of misguided compassion.

At some point, even as a Christian-based nation, we have to put the majority of society first over those who choose a life of drugs.

So, what point is that? Are we in dire straits now? I tend to think so.

The Seven Deadly Sins predate both the Protestant reformation and the Great Schism, and are thus a hallmark of Christianity, not just Catholicism.

People go hungry in this country everyday. Didn’t hear you getting all dramatic about before. You can donate to a food shelter. You can buy a meal and drop hand it to a homeless guy. Start a fundraiser. Plenty of options to personally engage in. Or you can gaslight everyone with a Bible verse taken out of context. That is blasphemy brother, and a one way ticket to hell.

I find it a bit disconcerting some "Christians" still support old testament puritan ideology.

Having legal drugs doesnt hurt my spirituality, unless I use and get addicted, and replace my spiritual life with drugs.

We arent here to save society by legal means, we are here to save our brothers and sisters trough individual acts of kindness and displaying love, not preaching it.

I dont care if people are gay, drunk, or on drugs, those people have zero effect on my relationship with God.

I struggled with alcohol, never hit the rock bottom some do but I did hit mine. I remember who was kind to me, and I still hold those people dear. To those who "preached" at me they did little but cause me to tune them out, I already knew I was in a bad place.

Using government as charity is a bastardized form of morality. I loathe people who do that. I also loathe people who think its our job to police other peoples morality, because we arent. I'm hard enough to stay within the lines by myself and control my own life, much less someone elses.
