saying Nola will be sued into oblivion starting Monday with the first round of gross negligence lawsuits..

I don’t think you’ll get many people to agree that the city was negligent if they took reasonable steps to mitigate risk.
As a Nola resident, I don't expect city officials to be experts on how to harden a pedestrian plaza. But my questions are:
1) Did they bring in subject matter experts to review the vulnerabilities of the Quarter and provide the city a security assessment and recommendations before installing the permanent bollards in 2017?
2) If so, what were those recommendations and were they followed by the city?
3) If they were not followed, how and why?
4) Why were these temporary bollards not used?
5) Why did Kirkpatrick not know about them?
6) Why, when they were finally deployed, were they deployed incorrectly per the manufacturer?
7) After the Nice, France attack, large, heavy vehicles and equipment were used to block off nearly the entire Quarter. Why were similar assets not used instead of just relying on police vehicles?
8) The current permanent bollards are down for repair. Who ultimately made the decision they would be down for repair on NYE?
9) How long have they been inoperable, and why did we need the Super Bowl package to repair them?
By its own admission and behavior, the city knows the FQ is a soft target, so it has a much higher duty of care to ensure it's crossing all the Ts and dotting all the Is. After watching city officials for the last 5 days, I don't have any confidence this duty was met. They seem completely out of their depth in every way.

You obviously haven't spent much time with a group of plaintive attorneys. It's more, "No pocket, no lawsuit" or "Pocket of Money, Yes Lawsuit"...

Imagine if pictures came out of Latoya having drinks somewhere on New Year’s Day….
Hmmm
Hmmm

Troop Nola coming in from the state has been a big improvement too. Why was this not done years before? Blame Governor Edwards.

Terrorism insurance looks to be included in most commercial policies and backed by reinsurance by the feds.
It is the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act 2002 and extended until 2027.
The way the law is written, the losses have to exceed a certain amount and it has to be determined terrorism by three cabinet officials.
If they have this for terrorism why not do the same thing for flood insurance at the federal level and homeowners insurance at the state level.

I just wonder if the folks bringing the lawsuits on behalf of injured or deceased are aware of the discovery process and how embarrassing it could get for them.
None of that is relevant and is not discoverable and a court would not allow that in evidence

Could this dumb bitch be out before the SuperBowl with the history of malfeasance they already have on her?
There is no way in hell she will ever step down. She admitted any wrong doing when she was guilty with travel stuff. Has yet to pay back the city when she was ordered to. Just wait until the walls start closing in. Democrat leadership and the media will come to rescue claiming racism.

The next election is in October.

I'm not a lawyer but incompetence is not negligence. Might as well try to sue the NO voters as well for putting Latoya in office. They are also guilty for her being in charge. Maybe The Destroya needs more out of country trips like Kenya, Spain, Qatar and Singapore to be better at her job. I'm sure those were helpful.

I just still can’t believe they elected someone from Compton, CA rather than somewhat of a local. Shame on NO.

I agree. If you can determine they had policies and procedures in place, and didn’t follow them, it would be much easier to find negligence.
But the entire premise of “you could have done more to protect me but didn’t, ergo you are negligent” seems fallacious to me. How many car accident could have been avoided if the city spent more on mitigation devices? Not providing a totally risk free environment does not equal negligence in my view.

Pretty sure terrorism insirance does not cover the city for negligence in this instance. It would cover them if the city property were damaged as a result of an act of terrorism but not their negligent act which contributed to the injury or death of a citizen. Maybe for a city employee but not a civilian

Says you.
It could be relevant.
Drunk people react slower.
The discovery period is different from a court which this will never see anyway.
The people bringing the suit(s) are going to have to be deposed. They will be asked awkward questions. Some will make their way into the record

This perspective is wrong on so many counts. Every major Demorat city is mismanaged. We are talking gross incompetence. People have such low standards that they excuse and accept it. This is asinine. People died. If they properly planned and executed their job with any semblance of competency, and a terrorist attack is successful, so be it. What I’ve seen out of New Orleans is anything but.
And you need to hold these people accountable. I saw Cassidy today being interviewed and he said the best way to defeat terrorism is to show them we are not afraid of them, and use our freedom to go out and show the terrorists that we are fearless.
What? The best? How about rounded up all illegal aliens, investigate mosques, CAIR, and prosecute, convict, and sentence them to jail. How about that?
I’m sick of this shite. We are at war! Declare it! Fight to win! Unconditional surrender.
Let’s find a Patton to do it. Is Trump, Bondi, and Patel up to it? We’ll see.
You obviously are not.

These statements are pretty crazy
There are already multiple lawsuits filed. Most are from the deceased so no - the personal rep is not going to be asked crazy questions. These are all young kids. O expert is going to try and testify to a jury that the recovery should be less because the kids were drunk. Good luck selling that.
The city will be in the hook. Insurers are screaming terrorism for no coverage. This is coming out of taxpayer pockets. You get what you vote for.

only shining light for victims is that the FEDGOV PIGGY BANK will print money for this home grown “chickens coming home to roost C ??? A” bullshite.
i have been downtown several days this past week & now these dumb mf’ers are finally finishing the sidewalk next to the crime
scene
aka
HARD ROCK CASINO HOTEL
where those idiots left that poor construction workers legs hanging out the side of the collapsed construction project for over a year, i lose track of time but it was around 1-year if i remember correctly.
That property has now sat vacant ever since 2019’ish and fenced up and vagrants on every side of it, BUT NOW “SUPER BOWL MODE”, lets finish the sidewalk and make it look nice.
If any ot our board members or loved ones felt victim to this crap, thoughts and prayers with you!
This city is fricked up though, but at least an International Bird’s Eye is on it.
trivia note: TEEDY is part Mongloid, we have a Mayor that could legit qualify for special education financial aid.
And i don’t say that lightly! the only decent thing to come out of this is to spotlight what “liberal, democrat run cities” turn into once you give the keys to Communist.
NOLA is a very strategic city to the world & the Uniparty has always kept its grip with leadership here, i’m sick of it!
and my people were originally settlers of the city back in 1699, New Orleans used to be the Jewel of the South & they’ve destroyed it!
NEVER has the barricades been put up at the foot of Canal, NEVER.
the 1st portion of barricades have always started the next block over and usually 2 blocks over by the Oyster house.
i’ve told anyone i’ve ever met or know or been asked, “NEVER GO THE LAST 1 block of Bourbon and on CANAL” Nothing good has ever happened there.
it’s usually where New Orleans finest “Projects” criminals and street thugs hang out.
and what’s even crazier and stupid, KILWINS ICE CREAM just opened a new location right there which lilely attracted innocent minded tourist there that in the past would not have trekked to that spot. Kilwins has some good ice cream and has their original location on Decatur in the Jax Brewery.
but this idiots just opened a new location right by the crime scene.
other trivia: I was crow hopped with a baseball bat on the exact block where the muslim POS first drove in, was by the fellow and local “projects dindunuffins” about 10 of them jumped me and my best friends 30
years ago, i woke up in Charity Hospital with a crushed cheekbone and was knocked out with a concussion for a day & woke up to my Mom on side the hospital bed.
Sorry for the rant, but if anyone wants to know how fricked up New Orleans is, i’ll give stories for days. And it sucks because it’s purely one of the BEST CITIES and core of people and culture in the world.
but when you have Mongloid DEI’s from Compton, California and their “communist colleagues” running things for decades, this is what you get!
also, “Dominion voting machines” have been used since they were created. The Communist Cartel will always assure they have a dead head puppet at the helm no matter what.
the Mississippi River is what drives and keeps New Orleans alive and feeds the world thru Int’l Trade, it’s a crucial choke point and strategic supply chain to the world.
I can go on and on and on.
Lastly, it’s one of the most litigious and pain in the arse figured to conduct business if you don’t know the right people or in the right industry.
Lawyers have fricked this place up for the last 100+ years, Ambulance Chasers were born here!!! We have these greedy POS legal bullies that thrive on pain and havoc to the community. Every couple years, major things happen to NOLA & South La. and the Lawyers EAT EVERY TIME!

Tiger’s dad is lead council for Acadian Companies. I’m sure he’ll try to honor is son by showing the world how corrupt and negligent the leaders of New Orleans are.
