Virginia and Colorado are both gone.
Abrams came way to close to winning in Georgia.

What's your definition of a blue state?
Posted on 2/19/19 at 10:19 pm to weagle99
Michigan, Pennsylvania and Ohio
I wouldn't say Ohio was ever blue, but it's definitely trending more solidly red.

Ummm, did you sleep during the 2016 election?
Wisconsin went red for first time since 1984
michigan and PA since 1988
Minnesota closest margin since 1972
Ohio largest gop margin since 1988
Iowa larges gop margin since 1972

I'd keep an eye on Minnesota.
The thing is all these leftists point out the resounding victories Rust Belt/Midwest Dem Senators had this last cycle, but deeply entrenched career politicians winning re-election in a senate doesn't really count.

A state that has either/or had a solidly Democratic state government for more than two decades or has been reliably Democratic in Presidential elections in the same timeframe.
I'm going with none.

Fair enough.
A traditional Democrat led state that reliably provides electoral votes to a Democrat presidential candidate.

I think minny is getting sick of the likes of Omar and Ellenson
They are embarrassing that state

Dems want to cancel Columbus day. NJ going red.

Iowa, Michigan and Pennsylvania will go blue in 2020, and Wisconsin's drift toward the GOP in the first half of the decade was an aberration. It's now trending solid Democratic. Scott Walker was the worst thing to happen for the GOP there.

I wouldn't be utterly perplexed if this happened, but this is a bold-arse statement without knowing the Democratic nominee.
It is better to deal in reality than a solipsistic ideal, my good baw.

All of those states have the same thing in common.
More whites than average in a climate where Democrats have gone all in on "frick whitey".
The democrat view that "Demographics is destiny" completely banked on the idea that previously white Democrat voters would continue to vote the same as always no matter how much Dems took a shite on them.
A very poor assumption.

They don't count for much, I think only 5 EVs, but NM could flip.
The newly elected Dem governor and state representatives are already overplaying their hand.
1. Governor pulled national guard away from border duties.
2. State legislature is pushing a bill to ban fracing for 4 years (NM is 3rd biggest producer in the US, O&G keeps the state out of poverty)
3. State legislature is pushing a bill to require background checks for private gun sales and allow the government to confiscate guns from anyone they deem a threat.
A handful of counties are passing resolutions declaring them Sanctuary Second Amendment Counties so that the sheriffs are not required to enforce the new gun legislation if passed.
A large percentage of the people attending Trump's El Paso rally last week were from NM.
An independent agency review of NM US House District 2 found that the 2018 election was likely swayed by fraudulent absentee ballots. (It was declared for the R candidate on election day, then thousands of absentee ballots were "discovered" that eventually flipped it.
Illegal immigration reform and potential voter ID could have a huge impact.
That is a lot of fricking words for 5 EVs, but NM is getting woke.

2020 is probably difficult to predict without knowing the nominees, but long-term:
The Upper Midwest (WI, MI, MN, PA, IA) will continue turning purple-to-red. I think the next areas to start turning purple will be some of the northeastern seaboard (upstate NY, NH, VT, ME, DE, CT, RI).
On the other hand, parts of the South and Southwest (NC, GA, TN, TX, AZ) will turn purple and even blue on occasion.
That’s all assuming the current parties platforms stay roughly the same.

Ohio, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Minnesota. This is how Trump won the last election and these states are going to determine who wins in 2020. These people vote for who they think will bring jobs and improve the economy and with the way things are going with the economy, I think Trump will win these states again.
The west coast and northeast will go democrat, the south and all the Rocky Mountain states and the Midwest states will go republican but the 7 states listed above will determine the outcome of the next election.
Let me remind you that a lot of these states voted for Obama because they thought he would improve the economy and bring back jobs. They lost jobs and the economy only went up because it doesn’t take much to be able to go up from the recession. These people didn’t want to vote for Hillary because she was very similar to Obama, and they didn’t like the way Obama did things during his 2 terms. I think right now these states are economically conservative and that’s all that matters to these people and the reason why Trump will win in 2020

quote:I think this could be the next major flip. The Northeast in general will be more competitive going forward IMO. Dems bragging about keeping 25,000 Amazon jobs out of New York wasn’t a good look. Trump might be the favorite in Minnesota by the time 2020 gets here. Might need it if Zona flips.

Healthy cells don't take over malignant ones.
Malignant cells spread to healthy ones and turn them malignant.

Man I highly doubt that. NJ is going to be blue for a loooong time.
