It doesn’t matter what he says, the Dems are not going to compromise anyway.
And them going to the back of the line and following the process is not bad if the door is indeed shut
The ap wants you to think he is caving. I remember when he was going to cave last qeek

meh, need to see details.
Remember per Schumer, he is like jello. His position will shift for tactical reasons.

I'm surprised there were so many people who thought he wouldn't agree to this.
Outside of really really core Trump supporters, I think everyone who approves of DACA in some form, which is most of the country including the GOP, assumed pathway would be part of it.

It takes a number of legal immigrants 15-20 years just to get a citizenship. All the while having made to spend thousands of dollars renewing work permits and especially visas.

Change that number to 25-30 years and I could be comfortable with it.
A decade is not enough.

Still too much. Furthest I'm willing to compromise is "pathway to legal resident alien status not full citizenship". Allows them to stay and avoid deportation, takes chain migration and rapid growth of new D voting block from forming which is what it's all about. Call their bluff and guarantee their ability to stay, pay taxes but not vote. If they're THAT interested in allowing them to stay that "should" be sufficient.

Not a fan of this but it'll be interesting to see if the Democrats balk at the years.

For instance, did you know that certain MS-13 gang members were not being deported because they qualified for DACA?

Are you joking? There are members of MS-13 that have not been convicted of a felony, yes.

Even if this is true, Potus will have grabbed this country by the pussy in 10-12 years. There won't be enough Dems to matter by then. 8 years of MAGA will have the rust belt voting republican for years. And who knows, maybe after getting the path to citizenship from Trump, the dreamers will end up Republicans too.
4D chess, TRUMP is yet again ahead of the curve

Anyone who immigrates here legally can apply for citizenship after 5 years I believe. I see no problem with that.

Let the dreamers stay, who cares.... as long as we can build a wall and cease chain migration and the lottery system.
Agree. But I would really like it if they can't vote for 20 years.

Are you kidding? MS-13 was formed so that their members can conspire together to commit felonies.

This is really easy for me. Put each of the dreamers in a room with the American flag and the one from their country of birth. Tell them to wave the flag. If they grab the American flag, give them permanent residence. If they grab the other, tell them to take it and hang it at their new home in that country.
Don’t tell me to fell sorry for these “kids” who wave the Mexican flag every chance they get. If they love Mexico so much, let’s give them a one-way ticket back.

Not even remotely. If you're in the country illegally, there is no way for you to become a citizen without leaving the country for a significant amount of time.

That’s not true at all for most legal immigrants. Most have to wait 3-7 years just to apply for a green card, wait an additional 7-10 years to get the green card, and another 4-5 years to apply for citizenship. While waiting to apply for the GC you have to renew your work permits and visas every few years. This costs lots of money as does applying for the GC itself.

Two years ago, a majority of this board would be foaming at the mouth over this. Calling any kind of path to citizenship “amnesty” and any politician that supported this a “cuck.”
Posted on 1/24/18 at 7:27 pm to Contra
To hell with that. I want them shot out of here in circus cannons and trebuchets.
