I think you underestimate how many people refused to vote red because of abortion. It’s not a gaslighting crock at all. You are forgetting that suburban women are a huge voter base, and also that most of the US is pro choice. Whether you agree with it or not, her point was 100% spot on.

It would take a Great Depression or something extremely drastic for abortion to not be as important as it is to people now. It is insanely important. I think it’s underplayed by folks in the south because we’re like “I don’t know what they’re so pissed off about” but outside of the super red states, as stupid as it is, abortion is one of the most important things to them.
