It must be rare nowadays for someone to unashamedly love his country?

Statehood wins that poll every time, and it's never close.

Do I want PR to become a state? Hell no.

DC has more of a claim to statehood than PR...and I don't want DC to become a state, either.

Actually, the DC statehood issue can be easily solved using past precedent. DC used to be a rectangle. In 1847, Virginia absorbed all of DC on their side of the Potomac. Maryland could do the same thing. Suddenly, every resident of DC is a resident of a state and is represented by Senators and a voting member of Congress.

Just because Maryland doesn't want them and DC residents want their own state, that shouldn't be the rest of the country's problem. Yes, there are large political obstacles, but it's possible.

Prico gets nearly 14% of their gdp in federal funding, nearly triple the average per state.

They have 92 billion allocated for previous hurricanes, only half has been dispersed because Trump put the cabash on all the fcking theft the last time. Remember the bitch standing in front of pallets of relief saying Trump hadnt helped? Remember the warehouses of rotting relief because they couldnt find thieves to offload so they let it rot rather than give it away?

Many years ago they passed a tax break for manufacturing in PR, thats why all the drug companies were there along with many other industries. When it expired 15 years ago they all moved away and the economy tanked. They keep spending money as if they had that tax base....and continued to thief. The infrastructure fell apart. And most of the middle class moved to Central Florida, hundreds of thousands of them after the 2017 hurricane, it was the last straw for them.

All this bullshite about a "strategic location", we have stood by and let China embed themselves in many of the larger Caribbean islands, Central and South America. If we really cared about that we would lift the embargo on Cuba. Punishing the people is nonsense, Fidel died with 400 million US so it obviously did not have its intended effect.

I’ve often thought it made sense to kick Hawaii out of the union as well. What benefits do they really provide? Could still pay them rent to keep naval bases there.

PR is a money drain for the US. If I understand it correctly, they pay no US taxes, but are eligible for all kinds of government monies. LET THEM GO.

Cut off the benefits and they will want to go.

If we could cut that landfill off, it would be better for us. They will align with the first commie government that would provide for them, lol.

One of the items would be statehood for Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C. resulting in 4 additional Democrat Senators. Why not give independence to Puerto Rico now which would eliminate the option for future statehood.
also, instead of statehood for DC, divide VA (again) into North Virginia (including DC) and keep their two existing Dem Senators, and let the rest of the state vote for two new Senators (who will undoubtedly be GOP)

Guam needs to be let got also. Its literally tax dump with absolute morons running this island. They received 5 billion for covid to an island of 100k people.

The Lt governor family got caught stealing several million. They gave them up to stop any more questions

Trade Puerto Rico for Greenland. Denmark would gain beaches in a warm climate and we’d get an icebox. We could call it Rubio’s folly as we mine the riches. That would get the Dims to vote for it. Another Alaska.

Or, we could give Northern Virginia back to DC and turn the entire state of Virginia red.
