I like to source our beef from small family ranchers who produce clean meat at fair prices. Sadly, one of our providers is saying goodbye and exiting the market, victim of through-the-ceiling inflation and other input unsustainable price increases. Our sourcing options are getting fewer and fewer, with prices going through the roof. The ol' supply and demand rules of economics.

Here is an excerpt from their farewell letter to their customers:

'Dear

The last four years have been such a gift to us in the form of wonderful customers and the fulfillment of being able to share our livelihood and beef with you.

You've been with us through COVID, cancer, and navigating life after the two. We have loved providing your families with delicious, well-raised beef while thanking God for your support and praying for your well-being with each boxed packed!

With input prices continually on the rise, and our time being directed to more activities as the Fisk and Lee kids get older, we have decided to re-focus our time and energy back within the walls of our home for now. '

Where will it end?!?! Drastic changes are needed, and we all know where and with whom they start.

Farmland and ranches will continue to be bought by corporations and foreign entities until someone puts a stop to it. Foreign persons or companies should be restricted from buying active farmland.

Another country controlling our food supply is bad news

They’ll be purchased by the government.

The government in control of food supply is also bad news.

Fiscal bills originate in the House - which has been led by Republicans for 22 of the last 30 years.

If the Republicans won't get our fiscal shite in order, no one else will. They seemed disinclined to.

In the meantime, congress is was and will be the problem. So hurray of Trump is elected, but it will mean very very little without change in congress.

They've got us distracted arguing about wokeness, immigration, Ukraine, Gaza, Putin, football, etc... while year after year nothing is done about what really matters - getting our fiscal shite together.

FIFY for anyone who didn't inherit their operation, or even those who did and were proactive and wished to build upon what they were given.

Of course, they're also paying an extra 15.3% self employment tax on top of their normal tax rate (which they only get to deduct half of as an expense since they are both employee and employer).

Makes no sense. You tax what you want less of. Right now, that's hardworking people earning a living self-employed. They want you working for the big corporations. They want you blindly contributing to 401k plans that prop up the market. They want you to provide capital by fixing the rates you pay in taxes on capital gains, and making them progressive on how much you earn through skill and risk.

Labor and effort are not valued in America at the same level as capital. That's likely because the laws are created by the ones with their fingers in the pot.

We need to incentivize self employment and entrepreneurs/innovators, not penalize them.

I would love it if you would share who your beef supplier is. Another source for us is in UT and shipping is prohibitive, so I need some alternatives.

Many thanks!

The government does not want more people capable of sustaining themselves... The entire system is built around more people needing the government...

Welcome to Capitalism.

If you're looking for where labor is in charge, find a communist country.

It’s why Cory Booker is always introducing farm bills. Redistribution of farmland is the ultimate goal.

I have some cattle and I always will. But my little cow-calf operation has gone from turning a modest profit into being a net loser.

I'm not that bent about it because I mainly do it because I want to and for ag tax benefits and a Schedule F.

Okay, but the democrats also led the house for part of Bush's term, a good bit of Obama’s terms, the second half of Trump’s term and the first half of Biden’s term.

Any blame for them? Or is that (D)iffrent?

Democrats and Republicans. My team vs your team.

What a bunch of shite. I despise both parties and will never be a member of a fricking thing the rest of my life.

Given the American people L O V E government spending, expecting a party to against the voters wishes is silly. Why do democrats not have a burden to fix our fiscal situation?

The reality is the voters have no appetite for real meaningful cuts. Campaign on cutting SS and Medicare and see how far you get.
