This explains the giant Afro comb sculpture that Destroya rented for the city.

My county still has, and uses, it's courthouse that was built in the 1800s. Classic, beautiful architecture that adds to the community.

Small counties/towns in TX are like this. Visited a small town in North TX last fall for work and it was a cool little town center around their old courthouse bldg.

I do a lot of estimating for a commercial construction company. An ugly-arse building is not less expensive to build than a nice looking building. I charge the same amount for either one, and personally, all of us who build these structures feel a hell of a lot more pride about a building that has some visual appeal to it. But if you want to live and work in a bland concrete box that's your right.

Form follows function.

If the function is to demoralize, make people feel insignificant, and strip people of any sense of national or cultural heritage, then brutalism accomplishes that.

If the function is to signify the strength of the union and the rule of law, then neoclassical architecture is the form to use.

Continue discrediting American culture by degrading all forms of artistic expression. An American Communist cell was told to “eliminate all good sculpture from parks and buildings, substitute shapeless, awkward and meaningless forms.”

That requires creativity, time, and patience. These are not the characteristics of modern contractors. They want shite they can throw up fast and cheap.

So you’re saying you really don’t know much about architecture…

Truly great architecture achieves both form and function.

Focusing only on function gets you bullshite like Soviet style apartment blocks.

You could say that picture is from the south side of Chicago and nobody would know the difference.

This gives me hope that Trump or someone in his ear is well aware of all the things that this board is aware of.

I guess you enjoy paying more in taxes to so that govt inefficiency can take place in a pretty building. Is no one seeing how stupid this is? We ostensibly have DOGE to downsize govt, so where is this new building design going to take place? We're shutting things down, not building new stuff - at least that's what we were told in the campaign.

This doesn’t mean building anything new that wasn’t already planned or creating new committees that don’t already exist. It means ensuring any new buildings that were going to be built anyway are reviewed by the already existing committees involved in the planning but they will keep classic American architecture in mind while doing so.

You really need to read things more thoroughly before you get upset over them. This is a pattern for you.
