He could have slammed Sleepy Joe even more effectively on many occasions without all the damn interruptions, and missed several easy opportunities to correct the record on the "fine people" and "losers and suckers" hoaxes.

No it was not a L. How many bad sound bites came out of the event for Biden versus Trump.
Biden called ANTIFA and idea
Biden would not commit to law and order or quote any police operation endorsing him
Biden's corruption was on FULL view with the points Trump got on the record with the American people
How exactly did Biden cause Trump to slip up?
The goal is not to look placid or "presidential" the goal of debates is to make your opponent make mistakes and put stuff on tape that can be turned into ads.
Trump clearly won.

Some of you guys need to learn to take an L, and last night was definitely an L for Trump and for all manner of (R)’s.

Last night was a grim reminder that Trump is a gargantuan, ripe a-hole with the temperament of a spoiled 5-year-old.
Trump definitely shouldve let Joe hang himself some letting him talk more, but the idea that republicans just need to be nice so everyone will like them has been dead for the last 20 years. Look how well that strategy worked for McCain and Romney.
Trying to be nice so people will like you only works if the media is fair. Biden claimed Romney was going to put black people back in chains and Romney is the most vanilla candidate in the history or the republican party. The media said nothing. In a perfect world your be nice strategy might work but unfortunately that ship has sailed.

He could have done better, but who did he lose? Will this be remembered beyond next week's debate or even after this weekend?

Right. Biden had nothing but platitudes last night. Politicians can't pull that crap anymore. Trump changed that.

If last night was an L, then why is every news organization pleading with Biden to not do any more debates
Because they want to take the win and head to the house. They assume, hopefully correctly, that Trump will come back with a more cogent summary of the positive aspects of his administration.

Just out of curiosity. Who did all the name calling? Who wouldn’t answer questions? Then tell me who the child is...
if people start rewatching the debate. Trump landed a metric shite ton of blows and We won’t see joe for days after that blood bath.

they believe he won tonight and he risks losing if he goes against Trump again
So they don't think he won then. They think he treaded water and didn't forget where he was. As a commentator said, he passed the exceptionally low bar set for him. Which may be a win in the Biden camp, but that was not a win for the election. If it was, he'd be A) on the news circuit touting it and B) eager for the next debate.

Some of you guys forgot what got him elected. It wasn't by being the thing you're claiming he needs to be.
The debate was meh. I don't think either guy benefitted much at all. But any suggestion that Trump being Trump is going to hurt him flies in the face of how we got to this point.

They were just hoping to God he would get through without a gaffe or a senior moment.
Trump never gave him enough rope to hang himself. The Dems, including Pelosi and others, would rather Biden not have any more opportunities to prove he's unable.
He survived because Trump let him.

I’m not sure it was an L for Trump but anyone thinking he won or improved his case for re-election is a complete hack
