The problem with our modern state is we've distorted the system to make the United States into a more ideal imperial power due to our newfound superpower position we found ourselves in after the two World Wars. We removed a lot of checks on war-making and emergency declaration and gave it to the executive to allow our military force projection to be nimble enough to put down threats to our post-colonial imperial regime. Don't think we're an empire then why do we have military bases spread all over the globe? We have slowly transformed procedural aspects of the legislature to turn it into a morass that only exists to rubber stamp budgets. However, our judiciary has been forced into a position of being a pseudo-legislature because we CANNOT have the people drastically change our foreign and domestic policy from congress. Instead, we just have judges twist their brains into pretzel to decide why one thing the executive does is legal and the other is not.
We have somehow managed to recreate some of the worst aspects of the late Stuart dynasty England and late Ancien Régime France in one constitutional representative democracy.

No I didn’t I don’t read them. I would hope you’d explain or provide context
Long and short they see which side matches with a "Conservative view" vs a "Liberal view"
In short Thomas on one side Sotomayor on the other side.
The more you vote conservative the more + score, the more liberal the more - score.
In the end they rank them all on the same cases.
They ranked every justice going back at least 50 years.
Its rather straight forward.

Didn't vote the way they wanted her to and didn't vote the way DJT wanted her to.

I was at my dad’s this week and he was watching Family Feud. One of the questions was, ideally, how many women should be on the Supreme Court and the black man answered 5. If we get to that, we are done.
In that game show, you are guessing what the survey said, not your personal opinion. That dude personally might think zero.

But on what? I ask the question regularly in the “ACB IS TERRIBLE” threads, and never get a response.

Congress is the bigger problem, they can walk in there, write a bill, change the law, and fix this crap on illegals.

Congress has been broken for three generations. But you’re correct in that Congress is the problem.
Literally everything that’s wrong with the United States is the result of Congress doing nothing since World War Two.

I asked ChatGPT when she has voted against Trump’s agenda3
Notable Instances Where Justice Barrett Opposed Trump’s Agenda:
1. Foreign Aid Freeze (March 2025): Barrett joined Chief Justice John Roberts and the Court’s liberal justices in a 5–4 decision rejecting the Trump administration’s attempt to freeze nearly $2 billion in congressionally approved foreign aid. This ruling mandated the administration to disburse the funds to global health organizations, countering Trump’s cost-cutting measures. ?
2. Deportation Under the Alien Enemies Act (April 2025): In a case concerning the deportation of alleged gang members to Venezuela and El Salvador, Barrett sided with the liberal justices in dissent. The majority allowed the deportations under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act, provided due process was afforded. Barrett’s dissent emphasized the importance of judicial oversight in such matters. ?
3. Birthright Citizenship Executive Order (May 2025): During oral arguments, Barrett expressed skepticism toward the Trump administration’s executive order aiming to end birthright citizenship. She challenged the administration’s legal rationale and questioned its commitment to adhering to lower court rulings, indicating a potential break from Trump’s immigration policies. ?
4. Presidential Immunity Claim (Early 2025): In a 5–4 decision, Barrett joined the liberal justices and Chief Justice Roberts in denying Trump’s request to delay sentencing in a case involving felony convictions related to hush money payments. The Court rejected Trump’s claim of presidential immunity in this context. ?
5. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Regulations (2024): Barrett dissented from the majority in a case that halted an EPA plan to combat air pollution. Aligning with the liberal justices, she criticized the majority’s reasoning as “feeble” and accused them of relying on “cherry-picked” data, showcasing her willingness to oppose deregulatory moves favored by the Trump administration. ?

I reckon Gorsuch and Kavanaugh were f-ups as well. And fooled us all, right?

I believe the justices realize that, at any time, any of them could get the JFK treatment. That realization certainly influences their court opinions. The cabal still exists.

ACB was a pick to try and secure the voting block she's in, but she always struck me as your typical wealthy waspy mom who was subject to emotional appeals of the less fortunate. Clearly she's soft on immigration.

What was the worst that could have happened…Trump loses in 2016 and Hildawg appoints 3 more wise latinas or Ketanji Brown Jacksons.
Trump ought to go out the box for any picks he gets this term. Maybe he needs to look outside the prism of DC and even go to an extreme by picking someone without judicial experience, but a strong conservative constitutional voice.

Why do you MAGA simps always blame others when Trump goes wrong (in your eyes) and Trump is a savant, omniscient god when Trump does something you agree with?
You can't have it both ways, bud.
