member when republican officials on TV disagreed with all those points in the ACA?

The irony, of course, is that the ACA was based on a program implemented by a GOP governor and candidate for the presidency - and its most controversial part (mandate) was originally authored by the Heritage Foundation.

The lower end of the group that didn't qualify for subsidies but were getting raped on their premiums thanks to obamacare.

Why not just make premiums tax deductible?
That would be an astronomical dent in government coffers. Premium payments are usually take up the third or fourth largest expense for American families.

That's a huge decrease in tax liabilit.y

I have no problem with the tax credit if it replaces the current tax credit...

Why don't they just pass it to see what's in it?

Why are the libs suddenly worried about content?

Wow, that is astoundingly bad. It may be even worse than the status quo, and is certainly worse than the pre-Obamacare status quo.

This is better than Obamacare[where we laid off 16 people to get under 50], but not the answer. I believe in a gov't contract with the states, not Washington, to provide a private health insurance policy that is mandatory and can not be turned down. The premiums for poor or middle class people to be paid 50/50 or so by citizens and the gov;t. Private Insurance companies control it,not Democrat Bureaucracy. A tax credit or a savings plan will not be understood or work. Only a Health Insurance policy by private insurance companies half paid for by gov't andthe people will work.

That's a right wingers wet dream right? Starve the gov't and make it shrink?

What about a partial deduction. Seems fair for the credit or deduction to be based on how much you are spending rather than your age.

Not since November. Now we're apparently all about big government.

I'm glad I'm not the only one paying attention to Trumps spending proposals.

Considering turmp's takeover of the GOP, that isn't true anymore. Now it's "big government for Americans but not for immigrants/foreigners"

No, but...

Under GOP bill, anyone who goes w/o health coverage for two months or more would face a 30% surcharge on premiums for a year

If he can do that it'd be Nixon goes to China moment, I can see the appeal in terms of "making history" I just don't know if he has the capital to do that and not be challenged in the Primary.

Also (though Trump wouldn't care about this) both left and right wing health care economists have issues with single payer.

The German "Bismark" approach is an interesting option- public private parnerships
