Under TRUMPCARE bill, anyone who goes w/o health coverage for two months or more would face a 30% surcharge on premiums for a year
fixed that for you

The government.

Refundable tax credits for health insurance vary by age but not by local premiums. They phase out for individuals above $75,000.

The House GOP bill retains the ACA's required services, but repeals the actuarial value requirements (i.e for cost-sharing).

House Republicans on Monday unveiled their long-awaited legislation to repeal and replace ObamaCare. The two measures dismantle the core aspects of ObamaCare, including its subsidies to help people buy coverage, its expansion of Medicaid, its taxes and its mandates for people to have insurance. (READ THE BILLS HERE AND HERE.) In its place, Republicans would put in place a new system centered on a tax credit to help people buy insurance. That tax credit would range from $2,000 to $4,000 a year, increasing with someone's age. That system would provide less financial assistance for low-income and older people than ObamaCare, but could give more assistance to younger people and those with somewhat higher incomes.

Either
A) Obamacare wasn't as bad as GOP made it out to be
Or
B) The GOP is highly incompetent bc they can't come up with a better plan than Obamacare.

I honestly have no idea. This bill is going to piss off everyone. It's a kludge of a kludge because of all the shite they have to do to get it through reconciliation.

But under the bill, the repeal of the Medicaid expansion would not take effect until 2020, and Republicans would grandfather in current enrollees so that they can stay on the program. But once 2020 arrives, the federal government would no longer provide the extra federal funds that allow for expansion.
That is going to make the 2019 La Gov's race very interesting.

How is that any different than the ACA?
There are 10 democratic senators up for reelection in states that Trump won. If I had to bet on it, I would say that it passes by reconciliation, but it would not surprise me if the 10 dem senators vote yes to try and save their seat once it becomes apparent that there is no way the GOP lets the ACA stay in any form or fashion.

If this bill passes the medicaid expansion would end ~10 days before Gov Edwards 2nd term or La's next governor's term begins.

Never heard/read the phrase "a kludge of kludge before."

Can you explain this to me?
Louisiana is the poorest state, has a deficit problem and needs federal money to survive.
Medicaid expansion gives Louisiana more money making our deficit problem not as bad.
300000 people are covered under the medicaid expansion. Thats 1/15 of the state
1/4 of the state is covered in total by medicaid
