Louisiana is the poorest state, has a deficit problem and needs federal money to survive.
Medicaid expansion gives Louisiana more money making our deficit problem not as bad.

300000 people are covered under the medicaid expansion. Thats 1/15 of the state
1/4 of the state is covered in total by medicaid

Yuo do realize in only a few years the state will be forced to come up with 10% of the total payments, right?

Where will that money come from?

Furthermore, when a state is as poor as LA, you don't create an even bigger welfare trap.

And after so many years, Louisiana is on the hook for the full bill for ALL of those people. It will completely wreck our budget, but not until a later election cycle, so it's ok.

Its a cushion, would you prefer some of those 300000 people die?
Louisiana has loads of problems but medicaid expansion is an opportunity for Louisiana to get its shite together or atleast in the right direction

What would you suggest instead?

The good thing about this is that everyone can see what is in this bill and voice their opinions on it.

Unlike the garbage that was Obamacare.

its deader than dead. It won't get through the senate for eliminating medicaid expansion, and the freedom caucus will kill it in the house.

Its a shite bill IMHO.

Elections have consequences.

It's why I told people frick their feelings about Vitter's hookers as we can't afford them and they're too expensive.

No, but there you go, I cannot win the argument now because you just accused me of wanting people to die.

Trump won't even sign this bill if by some miracle it would pass. It doesn't do anything that he talked about in his speech. (4 points, whic included Medicare expansion)

Let's just do single payer and be done with it. Down vote away frickers it's inevitable.

It appears that trump was big on talk with very little backing it up. I can't wait to hear trumpkins spin this into trump keeping all the promises he made for his healthcare overhaul

That wasn't my direct intention and I'm not exactly trying to win an argument. I'd rather learn than be "right".
If you wouldn't mind continuing the conversation, Put yourself in john bel edwards shoes when he allowed for the medicaid expansion.

You deny expansion, how do you justify it?

There are 10 democratic senators up for reelection in states that Trump won. If I had to bet on it, I would say that it passes by reconciliation, but it would not surprise me if the 10 dem senators vote yes to try and save their seat once it becomes apparent that there is no way the GOP lets the ACA stay in any form or fashion.

No Dem who votes for the GOP bill would get re-elected unless they do it on the back of Republican votes, the ACA has high approval among the Democratic base.

So, if you're a 35 year old family man who makes median income working for a small business that doesn't have group coverage, this bill is a complete shite burger. What good is a $3000 tax credit gonna do for you if your insurance costs 15,000/yr with a $10,000 deductible?

wouldn't that just make insurance prices increase? Just like college tuition has over the past 30 years

My favorite part is where if CEO's make more than 500k, they can write it off. Not shitting you. Part of it.

Edit: Iosh beat me to it.

This piece of garbage is terrible. You know who needs a tax break? the rich.

I want someone to defend that. I don’t even get it in terms of getting votes so it will pass, and just belping Execs seems unlikely to be enough to push major players in the marketplace unless they're a lot more corrupt than we think.
