America is facing a threat of biblical proportion: The rise of Christian nationalism

his week brought two chilling reminders that, despite America’s constitutional commitment to secular government, Christian nationalism is thriving in the Trump era. From the Alabama Supreme Court’s stunningly theocratic ruling on the legal status of embryos to the MAGA-aligned groups designing Donald Trump’s Christian nationalist second term, it has never been clearer that Republicans are at war with our fundamental separation of church and state.

The resurgence of Christian nationalism will come as no surprise to anyone who has watched Trump’s MAGA movement merge with a constellation of extremist preachers and apocalyptic prophets. Many of them, including prominent Mississippi Pastor Shane Vaughn, believe Trump was anointed by God to rule America. A growing number of evangelical voters now view the former president as the second coming of Jesus Christ and frame the 2024 election as a battle not just for America’s soul but for the salvation of all mankind.

I’m not religious at all but I’d 100% choose and fight to live in a Christian theocracy over whatever gender queer commie republic the left is trying to bring about. Not that any of this article is true at all but even if it was it’s just a big meh and shrug. If they don’t want to create a “Christian nationalist” movement that will wipe them out they shouldn’t poke the bear and bring about that punch in the face.

Where is this in the constitution? Does the writer of the article not know that all the founders were Christian?

is there something wrong with being Christian?

is there something wrong with believing we should put our own country first?

Every other country in the world sure seems to put themselves first. It's kinda what we elect people to do.

For any of you wondering which is the one true or truest world religion, look no further than the one that modern evil hates the most.

The writer doesn't care. These types of story apparently drive clicks and ad dollars enough to publish. As sad as that is. But she loves the marriage of church and state as long as it's her church. They all do.

I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof," thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.

Thomas Jefferson wrote this in a response to Danbury Baptist Association. He was the sitting President at the time.

So no, it is not in the Constitution. I think people associate it with the Constitution because Thomas Jefferson wrote the letter.

Hmmm, Trump doesn't go to church and never mentions Jesus. It's amazing how he created "Christian Nationalism."

I know a LOT of Christians, and absolutely ZERO believe this.

As an atheist, I would support anything this "threat" brings over what Progressives have in store for us. What a bunch of garbage.
