I'd have to imagine there is probably some loss of subscription revenue as well similar to Netflix

They wrote off $7.6B from their investment in Rivian. That's a pretty epic fail.

Now the Rivian market loss was I think $5.4 billion loss on paper.

Even more of an Epic loss by an automaker...they should have known better.

(But then again they did report an 8.2 billion gain on Rivian in the 4th quarter).

Does this mean there’s going to be another big ol’ abandoned building on Florida Blvd in BR?

Member when you could find deals on Amazon? That model is lost. Do you know why? Because chinese agents submit false reviews and claims against legitimate sellers. That causes them to fold.

I wanted to sell stuff on Amazon, but some Chinese company spoofed my email and I was banned on Amazon before I even began. I had already paid for the Amazon business account, but it let me pay for it before telling me to get fricked. I had no recourse to deny it.

The golden days of Amazon individual sellers are behind it.

$1.99 drill bits with free shipping always made me chuckle a bit.

Just heard an hour ago on the local news that we are headed for a recession. When they talk about it on the news then you know beyond a doubt it is here.

The Rise and Fall and Rise Again of Walmart is coming.

Walmart never fell.

They only started competing in earnest with Amazon for online retail sales within the past 3-4 years.

Combined with grocery delivery and their existing supply-chain network (supercenters are basically distribution centers), Walmart is poised to grow even faster the next several years.

Bentonville is booming like crazy with no end in sight.

New $5B campus is under construction as we type.

Middle class will suffer the most. Again.

That is always the case during a recession but that's usually due to lack of employment opportunities. This recession is going to be a bit different as there are plenty of jobs open and many are good paying jobs.

Lots of corporations seem to be coming up short nowadays...
Wonder where they're funneling the $$ to before claiming it as a loss on their taxes.

Corporate financial accounting losses have VERY little to do with how much tax is paid...

Im just spitballing here but probably a mix of Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, and a bunch of other southeast Asian countries which are in the same neighborhood and are more business friendly.

The higher tech shite still requires parts from places like Taiwan and high end factories to produce.

Cheap clothes and plastic shite with no significant work required can be done almost anywhere that allows sweatshop conditions.

Corporate accounting tends to be set up so that, if you are already having a bad quarter, you overload it with all your losing crap at once to get it out of the way.

AOL Time Warner having the largest corporate write off in history at that time was responsible for them dumping a lot of low-performing and non-performing money, such as the remaining contracts of WCW wrestlers like Goldberg who had been paid out of the Time Warner bucket rather than the WCW bucket.

They took a massive one quarter loss to dump all the shite and make things better going forward before the companies separated.
