cult thinking is easier than individualism

especially if you can spin your cult's teaching into being hidden/secret knowledge, which is how cults survive

Trump is/was actually a moderate. But, he was a pragmatic realist and was focused on quickly enacting lasting solutions - that’s what a great CEO does.

He disrupted the apple cart of business as usual in DC and really around the world. He offered an olive branch to Russia, China, NK, etc., to calm all of those relationships and to ensure that nothing catastrophic would happen.

He simultaneously held all of our allies’ feet to the fire to live up to all of their responsibilities related to their relationships with us.

When I speak to those that voted against Trump and I discuss policy issues, they typically agree that he was pragmatic. What they had and still have issues with are his personality and personal style. They don’t like the fact that he’s a narcissist with a giant ego and bravado that feels unbecoming to them as well as his “mean tweets,” etc.

The Republican statists didn’t help him at all in his first year or 2 either. We would have all thought that “repeal and replace” Obamacare meant something to all of the Republicans since they all campaigned on it. When it can time to do something, not only were there not enough R votes to repeal it, there was absolutely no plan to replace it. That all flew back on Trump. He needed to ensure there was a viable replacement plan and the votes to repeal before he started beating that drum. I believe that he trusted McConnell and Ryan way too much early on and that didn’t work well for him.

Most democrats I know white and black think that burning stuff or rioting in the name of BLM is despicable

Do they disavow BLM openly supporting Marxism? Have they disavowed BLM’s call to dismantle institutions of Western civilization?

Saying you support BLM but are against the riots is like saying you support the Nazis but you’re against throwing people in ovens. There’s more to their ideology than just burning shite down.

I have always been politically moderate; however, I have definitely moved to the right in the last 8 years.

Both Clintons wasre sold as a moderate.

Trump is a moderate.

Biden was sold as the most moderate candidate. He was the only controllable candidate that could be sold as such, which is why he was chosen. The extremism coming from the left is what the party has become though.

People use moderate to distance themselves from the media’s portrayal of the extremes.

What the hell is a moderate?

Does a moderate support/believe in constant international military engagement, the idea of impending effects of climate change, the country is dominated by systemic racism, the country should allow cheap labor overseas to support American supply chains, the consolidating of the tech industry and the power they weild in this age, the cost of college/the current level of government backing of student loans, the constant dramatic increases in government spending?

I’m a moderate and just don’t care for discussing politics because I get into arguments with both extremes that go nowhere

By moderate I mean people who can see that there are good and bad on both sides of the aisle, people who don't like woke culture or the BLM riots ect. but think also think Q and storming the capitol were bad?

I think the extreme left and the extreme right are both bad for our country.

Does anyone else here consider themselves a moderate?

I do, but people on the Far Right will call me a Leftist pussy while people on the Far Left will call me a Nazi.

For this board, I am a moderate centrist to liberal. . .

In the real world, I am a pretty heavy right-leaning libertarian

When MAGA took over this board, Trump became the litmus test for right wing bona fides

Everything NOT maga is considered left-wing communism

I think most people are actually moderate. I am called a fascist by my authoritarian left friends and a socialist by my very conservative friends. The problem is most folks on social media are more extreme, especial on twatter.

Just from my experience, I am a center-right moderate, but I do not know a center-left moderate. As you stated I both condemn BLM and the capitol event, but all my so-called moderate Democrat friends will not criticize BLM or even really acknowledge there were riots.

However, I think it is more for fear of the authoritarian leftists ... I am guessing most people think all this extreme racism, tranny stuff, etc., is overboard but most if not all terrified to publicly state that.
