One reason this is a bad idea is for medical doctors and medical researchers. We already don’t have enough doctors in the US. We need to keep Asian Dr.s in the US after medical school.
My daughter had surgery when she was 3 and there was less than 15 pediatric surgeons in the US that specialized in the type of back surgery she needed. Most of the surgeons were all foreign born. We were lucky because we had a Chinese surgeon at Children’s Mercy in Kansas City. At the time Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital was the only other hospital that wasn’t on the east or west coast with the type of specialist she needed.
Most of us have or have had foreign born doctors. My kids pediatrician is from Nepal and she is great.
This is a bad idea. 25% of the doctors in the US are foreigners

Most awards and Miney is already given to people that were approved in last 6 month. If this holds it will change for next year.

This board has become so overrun with the caricatures that the left has painted for a long time. I have spent years making the case to my leftward relationships that the way the right is portrayed is a ridiculous exaggeration.
Case in point: I insist that the right is not against all immigration. Only uncontrolled flooding of our borders with the undocumented.

As the post above says, it’s stupid to think this won’t become just one more escalation that will be turned back on its proponents.

USA can still work to ban entry for any established reasons that are based on mandate
A lot of situations call for pulling up the ladder
like if 20 million undocumented suddenly get shipped to borders as has happened
There is a process and we should require it to be followed.

This is a nation built on immigrants. Sure important to vet who we're letting in, but LEGAL immigrants on the whole are enterprising and have created tons of value
Sergie Brin, Elon Musk, Satya Nadella, Pierr Omidiyar... all immigrants, who have created economic value and jobs in this country.
