"the prop handler, Gutierrez Reid, hands him the weapon saying 'cold gun' - do you want to check?'

Slipgun replies... 'I didn't want to insult her [like this has EVER stopped him before]', so he responded, as any professional, award winning actor-producer would, with 'Nah... I'm good'.

The Hill hosts here remind people ... don't talk to the police without representation.

I feel for people when they are caught in a bad situation... but me-thinks Karma can be a bitch sometimes.

The Hill... now on YouTube.com (blah)

Contrast this with James Woods doing interviews about the movie Salvador.

They were doing a scene where an empty gun was going to be held against his head and the trigger pulled. A discussion was held by a few people on set in Spanish about the gun and Woods picked up on the word “blank”, immediately stopped the scene, and told them to take that shite out of the gun.

This was filmed in the wake of Jon Erik Hexum accidentally killing himself with a blank so Woods was very aware of what would happen if a blank went off against his skull.

Well James Woods is a legitimate genius and Alec Baldwin is a legitimate retard

So there’s your difference

Hollywood folks...

They have billion dollar CGI tools that make entire movies.

They are violently anti-gun (for you and me).

They still insist on using real guns in movies. Not CGI guns, not toy guns painted black, not formerly real guns with the chamber and barrel welded shut... Real. Guns. with loads.

Meanwhile the folks around those real guns with loads are known for substance abuse.

Good job guys. Keep up the good work.

This was filmed in about 1985, so CGI wasn’t an option.

There absolutely was CGI in the 80's, it just wasn't widely used and didn't produce the same visual quality as practical effects. But we're only talking about CGI adding a half second of muzzle flash on a prop gun, not like they're adding an entire scene full of CGI characters and creatures that have to look realist.

The actor checking the gun upon receipt is not something that can be opted out of. After the killing of Brandon Lee, protocols were put in place that mandates the actor verify.

#1 rule of gun safety is, "always assume the gun is loaded."

If he did that and the actor checking the gun is procedure then he is definitely culpable

CGI at that time was limited to stuff that was intended to be computer graphics, such as the Genesis Effect video in Star Trek 2 and 3.

They didn’t use it for realistic effects until the early 90s.

And the scene I was talking about wasn’t even supposed to have a muzzle flash. It was where the gun was supposed to click on an empty chamber and whoever set the scene up fricked up and put a blank in, which Woods caught before filming.

#2 rule of gun safety, never point it at something you don't intend to shoot.

But it took the Chappelle Show to take CGI muzzle flashes to a whole new level

With the exception of that one scene from The Abyss I can’t think of any CGI in the 80s. Didn’t become normal until after Terminator 2 & Jurassic Park in the 90s.
