and AI based Denzel is correct. The term 'slop' is being promoted by industries and media. It's always this way, until 2 years from now, when the first fully AI generated movie is released in the theaters. Then in 10 years, one starts winning awards.

Truth is, the industry wants that power, absolutely - though they will virtue signal to save artists, actors... 'talent'. They just don't want anyone else to have it. And they can't really compete... well, they can have large budget films. But ask the studios to turn out Back Rooms or Obsession... LOL. Those films were made by the rounding errors in Hollywood executives' expenses.

But they will do whatever they can to use it. Why? Because Japan, China, South Korea and others are all making better films and catching up to Hollywood... and that's without AI.

The greatest asset Hollywood has - is a vast library of films, screen tests, and cash reserves to pay the estates of deceased actors. So, if in 5 years from now, you see a movie remake of the Magnificent Seven staring Marlon Brando, Kirk Douglas, Cary Grant and Tom cruise while Grace Kelly waves on, it's because they can legally get away with it and appeal to some older demographic who (might) pay to see it.

While correct, don't underestimate the power of the general public simply getting used to something and preferring it just because it's what they know...it's familiar.

That's what's happened with music and movies already when it comes to digital as the universal capture format instead of tape and film.

Take music. In addition to enabling limiting techniques that reduce the dynamic range down to a sliver, which causes listening fatigue that people don't even realize they're having, digitizing music also enables things like quantization and pitch correction that is every bit as unnatural as the artifacts that you're noticing in that AI clip.

But people are used to hearing it now. They are used to hearing people sing on perfect pitch 100% of the time, which is impossible to do without pitch correction. They're used to hearing drummers, etc., playing in perfect time, snapped to the grid, which is impossible to do 100% of the time.

At this point if you DON'T use it, you risk sounding noticeably "unprofessional" to the average person.

I predict this will happen with AI as well. It's not that people will be fooled so much as it is that they will stop caring. The artifacts won't bother them anymore. It will matter more to them what the technique enables than what isn't as good when using it.

To be fair, all mediums leave artifacts. When I was growing up listening to music we didn't think anything of the "tape hiss" noise floor that was an inevitable artifact of analog recordings (not unless it was really bad, anyway) and most of the artifacts inherent in that capture medium were positive—rounding off transients, low end bumps, increasing harmonic content, tape compression—but they were still artifacts.

Digital eliminated those artifacts, which was good...and bad.

I agree that AI still has a ways to go before it starts completely replacing actors and cameras, etc. But maybe not as far as you think, because if this ends up being like other evolutions in production, it won't ever look like "the real thing." What will happen is that people will start to prefer it to the "real thing."

The fact is that box office ticket sales are 40% below what they were pre-pandemic. Still. So when I say I don't go to the movies anymore, I'm not the only one. Which is the point.

We can pray, Ed, just like Jesus did in the Garden the night before his ultimate destiny was fulfilled, but Christians know what must happen. Humanity MUST realize our limitations and imperfections and ASK for the Loving Jesus to fulfill His Task as Savior. We may access the power of ‘Worldly’ truth but that don’t mean our flaws will guarantee wise use thereof.

The Rules forbid any unwilling takeover of Personal Sovereignty, either from Above or Below. Rightly so. Individuals must surrender their sovereignty to that which they deem their ultimate Value. Self (worship) or God are the options. Everyone will be forced to make an educated choice’. Rightly so, as no other choice would be valid.

There's a lot of potential. The problem is that India has discovered it and is absolutely drowning us trying to monetize their slop. If I could ask for one thing, it would be a country-level filter for the Internet. We saw a hint of this about a decade ago when Indians and Pakistanis figured out how to SEO bomb google. The YouTube situation is getting even worse than that.
