No one is “defending” Arbery, who seems to have been a little punk and petty thief. That does not change the fact that Cletus and Jethro McMichael broke the law when they chased and killed him.

Detaining someone with a gun is not initiating a physical confrontation, sorry. If I catch someone on my property, they are going to be detained. If they choose to fight me rather than wait for the cops, they are going to get shot.
Not excusing these idiots rednecks and what they did, but when you initiate a physical confrontation with an armed person, getting shot and killed can’t come as a surprise.
