A new California ruling allows consumers to sue companies for failing to complete products that are in development. Last week, a California appeals court ruled that businesses in the Golden State can be sued for not making things.
A class action suit involving 24,000 AIDS patients was filed against Gilead Sciences in a California court because the biotech giant was unable to unveil a new HIV treatment sooner that was hoped to be a safer alternative to the currently available medications.

This seems like it would be something in an Ayn Rand novel.

The first thing that came to my mind.

Can people Sue Newsome and California for not completing the train system they spent so much money on?

That's cranking up the absurdity to 11

That was a public works jobs project, not the same thing.

Destroy private industry and award money to "marginalized" people.
Communism through the courts.
Communism through the courts.

I'm starting to think Newsome is either a plant or comprised by the good guys in some way. He is devastating California and driving industry and wealth away. They appear to be in a death spiral of spending more and more while taxing a shrinking tax base. Feel for the people stuck there or for those families that have been there for generations and are trying to fight the good fight and correct the ship.

This won't end up poorly.
"Where's my newly built free house?"
"Little Debbie lied to my family. Where is that new Ding Dong?"
"Hey Disney...where is my new Madea movie?"
"I was going to the moon, so get me there or give me 5 million bucks."
"I want my anti fat pill and I want it now."
"Oh and my rich white neighbor, he's crazy but he said to ask where is that drug that prevents covid-19, whatever the hell that is."

Compelled production is the same as controlling the means of production...seems like we've seen this before.

Cali is actively trying to purge its residents to red states in order to make them purple/blue.

So NOW big pharma wants to be careful when releasing a new life-saving potion on the world?
And California wants them to release it faster which means less safety testing?
Clown universe

OK, I'll listen to your reasoning...

True.

He is a democrat. A progressive.
This is what they do.
Communism by other labels is still communism

Gilead Sciences
Fauci’s buddies that made the failed CoviD “standard of care” remdesivir? (It also failed at its original intent of fighting Ebola, by the by.)
Doesn’t fauci have a questionable history regarding HIV and AIDS anyway?
On the one hand, forced production like this isn’t good precedent. On the other hand, I won’t cry much for Gilead.

You know that's (D)ifferent. They have been withholding disclosure on where those funds currently sit as well.
Same song and dance for the Communist Republic of California though. They taxed the shite out of their people to excavate and construct a series of lakes there in drought-prone areas of the state, to be filled when the rains inevitably and eventually arrive, and then the rains came and the water ran downhill until it was dry again with no lakes in sight... and they still won't tell the taxpayers where those funds went either.
But, you know, those people still choose not to leave, and they still choose to vote for the same politicians that bend them over a barrel without lube... So they get what they deserve.

At face value that sounds crazy but I'd love more details

Outside of already paying customers being promised a product by a certain date, WTF?

Can I sue the government for all their shortcomings?
Posted on 1/16/24 at 12:43 am to TigerAxeOK
I hear ya. I am just wondering why no law is made for us to go after politicians who hardly accomplish what they claim they will. That is far more offensive and derelict than a company they are allowing to be sued.
