Not many but I think it would vary by level. You'd get the most out of Sheriff departments, including the Sheriffs. Fewer from local police, probably close to zero from state police.

In a civil war, the good folks would have to take out the cops first. They'd have the marching orders to take out the legally armed populace. Once they've been dealt with, then go after the likes of BLM, ANTIFA, and the "IT'S MA'AM" types. Then we can enjoy a bourbon in peace.

Hell, in Florida most cops don't even know our own state laws. In Florida it is legal to open carry while or enroute to hunting or fishing but yet dumb cops detain people for it all the time. Then they get sued and taxpayers have to foot the bill. frick em.
My point is that if LE is to stand up to a tyrannical government, who will cut off their paychecks, they have to know the citizenry will support them, insure their families don't starve etc. I get your point, but I'm addressing something different. If LE does not believe the locals will stand by them in resisting tyranny, then LE has some math to do: with the government they get to take care of their families, with the People they do not. Easy decision. From there it's: if I side with the govt will the People kill me and my family?
The government, people like Obama, have done a masterful job in driving a wedge between the govt and the People.

This will come down to where you live. During Covid our LEO leadership declined to do what John Bel told them to do. They refused to enforce masks and in doing so Lincoln Parish returned to normal much faster than a lot of places. As good as it was here, though, some of the small towns in south Arkansas I went to I literally never saw a single person wearing a mask ever.

IMHO the majority of both US military and US LEO will obey the orders of the Government. If it is a National Security issue, such as Saving Democracy, the vast majority will obey the orders of the Government.

People are going to learn about their sheriffs real fast. The smaller the city/town, the more likely the sheriff is to not listen to the feds anyway. Large cities….GTFO. Cops will take orders, and keep their pensions.
Ex: Jefferson Parish. Joey Lopinto will not hold a press conference, but I can tell you that he will not follow the federal leadership and any of their “questionable” practices.

There's no way to know. I can tell you that percentage will almost certainly go up once there are reprisals against that American officer's family. Same goes for law enforcement, media personalities, and politicians. War is hell, and none of them are as untouchable as they think they are. I pray we never get to that point, but I fear it is all but done now.

If shite really went down those guys know that their families would become a target. That sucks but if you cant get to the ones you need to then the next best target of opportunity gets all the anger.
Really hope this never happens but it HAS happened in many other countries over the past few hundred years. Im not saying I would ever go after someones family but I am certain there are people who would.

don't underestimate the feeling of power over their neighbors and citizens that they would have if it came down to it.
collect a paycheck for arresting/roughing up ordinary folks that they can hide behind the guise of following orders? so long as the state and government condone it, then I think most officers would happily oblige to follow it to a tee
