Chief of police should be an elected position for this reason. There are counties and parishes that fall under the jurisdiction of the Sheriffs dept who enforce, not the PD… mine isn’t one of those unfortunately and we have a DEI appointed Chief of police from DC who’s main objective appears to be tearing down a confederate statue and following the marching orders of the city council who appointed him… small towns are just microcosms

In the major metro areas I would not expect much help unless an organization has built trusted inroads into their departments.
The suburban and rural areas will have more loyalty and community members in those departments.
This is active clubs are so important. These Brits are now flocking to active clubs but the organizations can’t properly vet them so they are turning away as many members as they bring in.
Organize prior to chaos!

Neither do I.
There would be ZERO officers turning in their badges.
Exactly, they care way more about their pensions than your rights.

In fairness, in many small towns and in vast swathes of middle America, cops just said "we ain't doing any of that dumb shite". I think Mandeville PD actually posted on their Facebook page "we're not the mask police, dont call us about that" or something to that effect

I have 4 family members in law enforcement, all in big cities and I know for a fact, all four would turn in their badge.

in britain, the police is more nationalized. here, it is local. big difference. i don't think it's the cops you need to worry about. it's the prosecutors and what they decide to go after. if the DA won't take charges for shoplifting, cops will stop making arrest.

what percent of American officers do yall think would turn in their badge
None of them. They'll be the ones throwing us in gulags if they're ordered to.

“what percent of American officers do yall think would turn in their badge and look for jobs in the private sector rather than put a boot on the throat of their neighbors?”
You are correct. I would say about 10% would quit. The rest would throw a citizen in jail for wrong think to avoid losing their retirement pension.

I say it all the time. You gotta be an idiot to be a cop.
Posted on 8/8/24 at 7:12 am to Azkiger
Zero. Why do you think they became cops?

Give me just one example of when cops have ever sided with the people and Constitution instead of the government.
Hell, in Florida most cops don't even know our own state laws. In Florida it is legal to open carry while or enroute to hunting or fishing but yet dumb cops detain people for it all the time. Then they get sued and taxpayers have to foot the bill. frick em.

People have families to feed
They also have families to protect. A private arsenal of 390,000,000 firearms literally ensures that things will never get out of hand in this country.
That is the true brilliance of our Founding Fathers and the 2A. LEO's would soon frown upon coming home to their families throats slit wide open.

We saw during Covid. Only a very small number of officers arent willing to oppress their neighbors when given orders to do so

looks like ector county (odessa,tx) was doing a "show of force" to the roughnecks at happy hour. that was on governor greg abbotts watch.

...and?
These local, rural LEOs will follow orders and frick up citizens just like they're doing in the UK.
Who is giving them the power is irrelevant to the discussion.
