When you have a broadcasting license and are governed by the FCC, whose role it is to ensure what’s being broadcast is in the best interest of the public. That’s the entire point of the FCC

No one here had anything to do with Nexstar and ultimately ABC removing Kimmel. That was their decision.
Ultimately, one should be able to voice displeasure over the words or actions of another individual if they disagree with them. Isn't that the foundation of what the country was founded upon? Free Speech.
I am free to voice my opinion and the government can't silence me.
However, my employer has the right to determine if my words are not congruent with their philosophy.

Can we stop with these posts? ABC made the call.
It's no different than getting fired for doing a shitty job. Call ABC and complain.

No one is even saying that. We are happy he is fired because for years now Kimmel has been a mean spirited lying propagandist masquerading as a “comic”. One of several I might add. People are rejoicing because there seems to now be some karmic balance in the world again and perhaps the left has lost their inoculation to irrational partisanship.

Maybe- call me crazy-because it uses public airwaves to actively pour gas on a cultural fire that threatens to result in mass bloodshed and civil war?

There was a long history of late night TV hosts being political but not partisan.
It was the choice of people like Kimmel or Colbert to break with that tradition and take on a more direct and heavily partisan stance.
Whatever eventual consequences they met were ultimately of their own doing, especially given these extreme polarizing times.
I highly suspect a Johnny Carson could return in today’s times, still make a ton of political observations and jokes ……without being partisan… still have an extremely popular show and not have his show cancelled.
Hard to feel sorry for Kimmel regardless of the “nuances” of this latest incident that cost him his show.

not that bad.
Would Kimmel have been fired for saying “the left tried to pretend George Floyd died from anything other than fentanyl OD?”
Of course he would’ve. And he wouldn’t have been lying. And you’d be in here defending his firing.

Another valid interpretation, though, is that he was criticizing the right for basically coming up with any narrative they could as long as it denied even the possibility that he was MAGA.
Are you his PR agent? That is not what he meant. He meant that the shooter was "one of their own", i.e. MAGA.

I think you need to take a step back, listen to what you heard and saw, and stop listening to and watching CNN. You're gaslighting here.

You should have told me carey_welder says we shouldn’t do it. That changes everything.

I'm paraphrasing. Of course I left words out. It does me no good to restate the entire line.
"Brian Kelly spent the entire press conference desperately trying to characterize the LSU offense as anything other than abysmal."
That doesn't mean the speaker believes that the LSU offense is abysmal. It's implied, but it's not directly stated. The quote is speaking about what Brian Kelly did.

This was about money. Like everything that involves large corporations. If Kimmel was making ABC big money, he could toture a puppy on air, and he would still have his show.

Ok. Appreciate the response. And I’m not disagreeing, I just like big picture perspective.
I don’t recall something specific with Tucker Carlson. What did Tucker say?
Funny you mention Fox because I was thinking of someone like Jesse Waters.

It's not what he said and only what he said then and only then. What got him fired was the fact that he has a long history of being a complete douchebag spewing blatant lies, in a comedic way, about Trump and the right in general. Then he said this, where he not only insinuated but said in a definitive way that the shooter was "MAGA" and that the right is trying to score political points off a political assassination. I think it was just the straw that broke the camel's back. He fricked up one too many times, and he did so at the wrong time.
Had he waited a couple months before saying what he said, he'd be preparing for tonight's monologue as we speak. Instead, he said it less than a week after the shooting. Too soon!

So blatant lies are acceptable? If you can do it and I can do it so that makes it ok. Whack liberal mindset, this is why you idiots condone murder.
