This is why I like the US system. Mamdani isnt going to be able to go in there and just start his socialism. Planning and Zoning committees, city boards, etc will be enough to block any stupid agenda that he has. Even DeBlasio went on Fox (and DeBlasio is a supporter) said that he isnt going to be able to push through even half of the stuff that he wants to

That's the great thing about America and capitalism. Those financial institutions can move!
ETA: don't you think the businesses fleeing California is a testament to Newsome's bad leadership?

Taste? Stuff it down their fricking throats. Make them choke on it.

I will say this about Mamdani: he is the only one talking about people's issues: cost of living. cost of transportation, rent control the things average people care about. His policy prescription is socialism but at least he is talking to the people about which is more than Adams or Cuomo are doing

This is good. Let them suffer.

Almost half of NYC residents are from a different state or another country.

Why do y'all care so much about whom New Yorkers select as their mayor? Do you care what New Yorkers think about who should be elected your governor? That's what makes America great: marketplace of ideas.
You are far brighter than this idiotic post.
FedGov as usual will have to bail them out. It’s not FedGovs job to police your blue cities when leadership of said blue cities has failed the people.

It will be interesting to hear and see how the media responds once this dynamic falls apart. When the opponent is digging a hole, let it dig.

I bet Brits said the same thing when London elected a Muslim mayor. Now look at them

Mamdani will have over 50%, so it doesn’t matter.

This. This is also why Bernie Sanders was so popular. Mamdami is talking issues while everyone else is just talking status quo. Mamdani's solutions are awful, but the status quo is already not working for a LOT of people. The right cannot counter the left by simply saying no to stupid leftist stuff. You have to also have smart right wing policy of your own that will change the status quo.
When the status quo is untenable, people will embrace radicalism in the hopes it will give them a chance at change. People would rather risk change for the worse than stick to a status quo that is slowly killing them.
