They need to change the “L” from liberties to leftist. They are no longer for liberty apparently.

so the ACLU is now against free speech, the 2nd Amendment, and Due Process?

It is truly sad. As much as I disliked the ACLU in the past, they would routinely defend unpopular opinions and speech, such as defending the KKK and their right to speak. They defended Rush freaking Limbaugh.

Now they are just another branch of social marxism that are essentially supporting fascism.

Unreal.

I used to support the ACLU. Because of the nature of their organization, I understood that there were going to be some things they fought for which I disagreed with. But I still supported it.

But now, the ACLU just seems to be filled to the brim with a bunch of SJW crusaders.

they kind of went a bit off kilter following C-ville and then announced their full partisanship with the Kav stuff

now they're not even hiding it

Oh wow. ACLU used to straddle the line pretty well, with a lean left but this is pure partisanship. ACLU comes out against due process? Insanity.

We are going to miss real liberals in the future.

Guilty until proven innocent is unfair enough but when it only applies to republicans that are accused it become a travesty.

Comparing Kavanaugh's treatment to Avenatti's is the only evidence a person needs to show how unfairly republicans are treated. Everytime I've seen or heard Avenatti discussed in the media yesterday & today they are taking a wait and see approach. I haven't heard a single person mention that his 2nd wife testified under oath that he had been abusive throughout their marriage simply because she now says he didn't. Her testimony is public record though. All that tells me is that he left court and beat her until she tweeted his innocence

The President and Deputy Executive Director of the organization are female members of God's Chosen People and the Executive Director is a homo. What did you expect?

This is something both sides SHOULD be able to agree on.

The ACLU does stuff like this all the time to keep their name in the news (and to give you baws another reason to predict the end of civilization).

The only part of the proposed rule that seems like it needs work is the definition of sexual harassment. It would be defined as unwelcome sexual conduct that's "so severe, pervasive and objectively offensive that it effectively denies a person equal access to the school's education program or activity."

"sexual conduct" itself is not defined (although it could be in another part of the rule).

Also, by saying that that the harassment has to "effectively denies a person equal access to the school's education program or activity" seems like a high bar for the accuser to have to clear to have the accused be culpable for harassment.

Sheesh. So they basically oppose the primary principle of our Justice system

They are opposing this in every case where a white male is the accused. You know there is no way they oppose this if the offender isn't white. Or Republican.

Yep and those like bamaatl and kneelandblow will welcome this with open arms. People like them will get what they want one day, it will be catastrophic to this country and by then it will be too late for them or anyone else to change it.

I’ve agreed and disagreed with them before, but at least I always understood their line of thinking. This stance seems very inconsistent with their overall purpose to me, and it’s appalling.
