I first saw this on the liberal sites in the past couple of days... now making it to the mainstream. At least cnn gives it some fair coverage. The other sites were already blaming it on Secretary Hegseth and President Trump.
I personally love it. She was stationed out at sea nearly a year...Especially since we all know, after a couple of months of work, she'll look as good as new.
You go old girl. I'd love to know some of what you've seen and done.

Some rust is wear and tear from constant assaults from sea water, but nothing like that.

Whaaa Whaa whaa. My fathers aircraft carrier had a combat deployment of 18 months during WWII. His deployment would have been longer had but it was hit by kamikaze's and had to leave to repair major damage.

This is a lot closer to current state. OP's picture was clearly doctored, I saw the original late last week, and it was nowhere near that bad. There also was zero visible corrosion on the island, the edge of the flight deck, etc.

Enterprise was 25 when I was onboard. I reported to her in the middle of a cruise. There was rust everywhere. Inside and out.That's what happens to old ships at sea.
She'll go home, get a year + of in-port service, and they'll have her stripped and repainted. She'll look like a different ship in a year.

Question for modern Navy people. With a crew of about 5000, don't they have people whose job it is to clean with needle guns and repaint? Or is that done in port by civilian contractors.
Another question about rations and resupply. Are officers' rations still separate and paid for by them. I've been wondering if current the resupply issues impacted officers and enlisted ranks equally?
My at-sea Navy experience was limited to 2-weeks as a civilian tech on a fleet tug. I was berthed with NCO's but ate with the officers, and never quite figured out all the rules.
