Not defending the OP, but thousands and thousands have been ID'd in the Catholic church, around the world. Hundreds of thousands if not millions of kids have been abused in the US, and that's just what the Catholic church admits to, and covered up for decades.

Except it's a known fact that church officials have been abusing kids and covering it up for generations. Can you imagine what it would feel like if you or one of your siblings were abused by a priest that had been doing the same for years and years, with the church just sweeping it under the rug and sending the priest on to abuse more kids? I'm sorry, it's shocking to me that people aren't burning and bombing Catholic churches every day.

That's a cop out. First of all, I'm pretty sure 100% of the Catholic priests and church officials who are doing the abusing are in fact Catholic. As are the church hierarchy who are covering it up. Secondly, to believe that the parishioners were utterly unaware of what was going on, while the church played musical chairs with priests and others in these churches is just too much. While they may not have known exactly what was going on, to think that they didn't think something was going on would be to label them the most oblivious, un-curious people on earth.

Kind of a bad comparison, when the money sent to the church is entirely voluntary, whereas the money sent to the government is by force and coercion, in peril of criminality and prison. Isn't it?

Or maybe it's just more publicized because of the large entity. I think the larger issue is the one's covering. I don't believe for one second that what happens in every Catholic church is known business in Vatican City.
I can tell you at least 3-5 cases of students and teachers hooking up. This was back in the 80's. But now all the sudden it's this "where did this come from?"
Yeah, I get the family thing, but you deal with it and get justice. Seems folks pigeon hole certain things that they have a cross to bear against. That's my issue.
