quote:

In one of the more maddening instances of COVID insanity, a NYC waitress was fired because she wanted to wait on getting the vaccine over worries that it have an effect on her pregnancy.

Bonnie Jacobson, 34, said that the management at Red Hook Tavern fired her on Monday simply because she balked at getting the shot immediately.

Jacobson also said that she’s not an anti-vaxxer and “fully supports” people being inoculated, but said she wants to wait for more research on the coronavirus vaccine’s possible effects on fertility.

I thought they weren't approved for pregnant women yet? Sounds like a nice fat wrongful termination suit to me

To Dems she's just got some "pretend life" inside her and why would you worry about something that is just pretend?

Smart. And sad she lost her job. We get attacked for being anti-vaxxers, but I am not anti vax, I have had vax before. But what is wrong with someone wanting to wait this one out. This thing moved very fast and is the first vax ever to treat a coronavirus (cold). I mean, over the last 100 years there has never been an instance of a medicine or medical treatment going wrong and causing much pain and suffering, has there? Nah.

It's their business.

They have the right to request she
get vaccinated.

Except if the vaccine isn’t cleared for pregnant women and she is pregnant, she would qualify for an exception.

Do they want to be on the hook for any birth defects the kid has if she takes the vaccine?

She's not pregnant now. They are trying.
ETA: Not that I think she should have been fired

I see at least one resident prog filth here to silently downvote. Come on scum and let us know why it's perfectly acceptable to fire this poor woman.

She doesn't deserve to be fired. She has the right to say yes or no to a vaccine. That should never be led to a termination.

Can she sue? Wonder if someone would take her case pro-bono. That said, I do NOT blame her in the least.

Also, why was she eligible for it now anyway?? Have ALL of the older, pre-existing condition people gotten both doses???

In NYC it could be difficult I would think -- their policies and mandates suck.

She ain't pregnant and the vaccine is approved for pregnancy LINK

Is she gonna be on the hook if she catches Covid and the restaurant has to shut down and the property disinfected?

I think this is insane to fire someone for not taking a vaccine currently only approved under emergency use authorization (opens the company mandating up to lawsuits if something were to go wrong it seems), but let’s not let this “news” agency misrepresent the truth. The title of the article makes it sound like she’s actively pregnant.

The substance is that she is “concerned it might affect her future fertility”
