Eh this isn't entirely true. I have lots of lazy friends that dicked around in college on their parents' money and got a good job out of college thanks to their parents' connections.
I had to work 20+ hours a week throughout college to pay to support myself while some of my friends would spend $100s nightly at the bar on their daddy's credit card.
I don't think it's honest to act like everyone is on a level playing field.

My biggest problem lies in a system in which I break my back and bust my arse for a company even though I see all of my coworkers skating. You know why? Because my work ethic tells me that it doesn’t matter what I’m doing, I want to do a good job. So I did for a while because I just knew it would pay off. My supervisor told me how big of an asset I was, how having me around has actually boosted morale, and how I actually SAVED THEM nearly $10,000 in labor by taking on additional role. I did this because it was going to pay off. So raises came around and you knew what they threw me? 50. fricking. Cents. $20 extra dollars a week was what my hard work, dependability, and sweat were worth. I told them how pissed I was and they came back with an additional 70 cent raise. They told me to keep it quiet, and told me how big of an exception it was. I was made to feel like I should just be thankful to have a job
So maybe I’m misunderstanding you somewhere along the lines, but from this comment, i gather that you felt like you deserved a bigger raise than your coworkers because you busted your arse while they skated? If so, I would agree with you here. Most people probably would. (Even though apparently after receiving a larger raise than everyone else, you still weren’t satisfied because it wasn’t as much as you “expected.”-but that’s a whole nother matter)
Then i read this subsequent comment from you which left me scratching my head:
quote:
The idea that one person deserves a better life than others because they are good at making shareholders money is absolutely bananas.
Isn’t this the complete opposite of what your previous post insinuated? Seems like you’re proposing that those in higher level executive/ management positions shouldn’t be making more than those in the positions below them, while simultaneously suggesting that you should be making more than your coworkers who are in equal or lesser positions.
Do you think a hospital should pay the janitor the same amount they pay their neurosurgeon?? If we were to make college free for everybody, does that mean that someone with a doctors degree should make the same as another person who got their degree in gender studies? Surely you don’t believe this is a viable idea?

Everyone isn’t “on a level playing field” because some people’s parents worked harder.
One of the primary motivators for getting ahead is the give one’s kids advantages.
Where the frick did all the envy come from when that happens?

sh*tty degrees
So you're saying a degree in gender transitioning studies, or carbon justice, isn't just as worthy in our economy as one in medicine or software development?

College wasn't "free" - ever, you are the ones that want to live in a resort for 4-5 years, get free public transportation and have someone hold your hand and help you make decisions. Where is the money for your generation's luxury accommodations supposed to come from?

They went to high school and college while Obama* was in office.

You are actually asking this question?
These shitheads who get such crappy degrees should have great difficulties.
That's what are called "object lessons" for anybody else planning to waste the government's or mom and dad's money on such costly and wasteful self-indulgences.

So buckle up. The days of people believing in the bullshite patently false trickle-down economics and bootstrapping fairy tales is over. The internet fricked that up for you. Get new schtick or get on board.
It's hilarious that so many people on the right believe in the swamp/deep state and also in the holy grail of trickle-down that those same swampers support
Giving power to consumers forces business to compete for customers. Giving power to the wealthy/employer-class forces consumers to compete.

You think these assholes who tried to take down Trump are bigtime supply-siders?
Brennan is a fricking Communist for Christ's sakes.
There is a reason these assholes hated Reagan as much as they hate Trump.
Jesus fricking Christ what a moron

I could die a happy man if I believed that - it is encouraging that there are those who believe it though - and I hope to live long enough to see it happen.
thanks for the hope.

I’m a millennial (born in 87) and this is my opinion. It’s not the governments job to ensure equal outcomes. It’s to provide for equal opportunity. You want to provide equal opportunity how about remove affirmative action which judges someone SOLEY on the color of someone’s skin.
You want equal opportunity how about you quit subsidizing bad decisions like children out of wedlock and children before you’re financially stable.
You want equal opportunity? Quit dismissing any and all consequences for poor decision making.
And it’s not the government’s job to teach you how to set yourself up in life. That’s your family’s, community’s, or churches job.
It’s the federal governments job to ensure infrastructure is intact to best facilitate commerce between states, protect our borders from other sovereign nations and invaders, and to negotiate international trade deals. THATS IT

Cool, now instead of virtue-signaling on a message board, put your pie-in-the-sky ideals to work: Today, liquidate every asset you have and immediately dives yourself of 70% of your wealth by giving it to the poor.
If you were to make a REAL sacrifice like that instead of preaching to others, you would truly make a difference.
We'll be waiting for proof (hint: he won't.....)....

What skills do you have that could get you out of a factory/production/warehouse role? Honest questions. Hard work and the desire to do better because it’s the right thing to do is what we need more of in this country.
My suggestion to you is to look elsewhere and find a new employer that appreciates/rewards you

for wanting stuff like free college (which for some reason you guys forgot was a thing, like, 40 years ago)
Free college is an incredibly stupid idea.
There are already too many stupid people getting free money for college who will simply drop out in a year.
College has become an excuse to avoid work for millions of children.
If you want a college degree to actually MEAN something, it should be harder to get in, not easier.
And until we get rid of useless courses such as "Famous Left Handed Lesbian Feminist Authors of the 18th Century", most of us would rather NOT burn our money with little or no chance of real return on investment.
