Really? I went to college 40 years ago and it wasn't free. It was much cheaper, but we can think big Gov (The Federal Department of Education) for the massive increase in costs.

It drives me crazy when I hear people whining about college debt.
It took me seven years to get a Degree because I paid for my education myself (I borrowed ZERO money) , while working a full time job and having a family, I got married at 19 , and had three boys by age 25.
I sometimes only had enough money to pay for two classes in a semester.
My youngest son graduates high school in June. The oldest graduated college last year , my middle son is a Junior in college. They will all graduate debt free.
My wife and I paid into a state sponsored college plan , we started within a month after our first son was born. After each of the other two were born , we started one for each of them.
If a person doesn't want college debt , they can do what I did or don't go.
Society doesn't owe you people anything !
Be angry at your parents if you want to be angry. Pay your own way and shut the hell up !

Depended on the state. They went in California (the liberal wasteland you guys all hate) and they just had to pay for their books.
Like all things "free," though, it wasn't actually free. It was subsidized by taxes. Like it should be. Like healthcare should be. Not the blatant cash-grab scam it currently is.
Which is part of the problem. The Right makes it seem like liberals actually believe everything should be free, which is patently false. It's a straw man.
