false premise.
The vast majority of law enforcement would resign if ever asked to confiscate firearms.
That's what people don't realize.
Unfortunately, they'd be replaced by cops who would.

To the mensas who are talking about a boating accident, you’d be the first ones arrested for felony possession of a firearm once the cops push you aside, walk into your house and toss all your shite around until they find your guns. While they hold you, your wife and kids at gunpoint of course.
How, in your hypo, do they know that I possess any firearms?
What door are they kicking in?
In your hypo, how/where are my illicit firearms stored?

Officer I meant to call y’all. I need to report a theft of all my weapons

Mississippi cops are very conservative. Lots of them wouldn’t enforce this. They wouldn’t quit they would just not do it. Kinda like not enforcing littering

Tell him to come back with a warrant.
When he comes back and finds nothing, tell him about how Katrina took all my firearms.

C) show him a copy of the police report where I reported them stolen the day the announcement went out they would be taking guns.

C) Take the cop's gun so he can't disarm other law abiding citizens

That’s a MASSIVE house to house and door to door task. Impossible to pull off and enforce without a tyrannical regime that 75% of the country bought into.
Could not happen. Not to enforce a policy that 50% disagree with. Broaden that beyond ARs and the like and it would be precipitously less popular.
Then add the handful of “mini Ruby Ridge” type incidents that would pop up over the country. A few dead otherwise peaceful law abiding folks. Sprinkle in a couple dead cops or national guardsmen. Public outcry would be horrendous.

They would do what CA did. Give you until a certain date to turn in your gun, and if you get caught with it later, you go to jail.

...and demands you turn over your guns. Do you:
A.) Comply and go on living life without guns?
B.) Slam the door and prepare for your last hurrah? Guaranteed death or lifelong imprisonment after the gun fight.
B.

bullshite bullshite bullshite.
Cops aren't going to resign in waves over gun confiscation laws. They've never done it over any other unjust law and they aren't going to do it over guns either.
Keep dreaming, statists.
They've already publically stated they wouldn't put in effort to enforce recently passed gun-control laws in the very blue states of Washington and Connecticut. If the police know they can't enforce comparatively mild gun-control laws, what makes you think they'll really put their lives on the line to confiscate firearms en masse? They won't and the SPD and LSP officers here agree with me. bullshite is what you're peddling.

What new gun control did they pass?

I think the most beneficial thing that could possibly happen in the gun control debate is for SCOTUS to hand down a decision that the 2A does not apply to those outside of an organized, state-sponsored militia. This, essentially, places the onus on each state to make its own decisions on gun ownership, control tactics, registries, etc.
States like CA would obviously outlaw most types of weapons, require huge background checks, waiting periods, etc. There'd be a mass buy-back program. People who don't want guns around would flock to CA. My state of Georgia would gladly accept any and all gun owners with few, if any, restrictions. Gun owners would flock to live in GA (and become Dawg fans in the process, of course).
Given the diversity in this country when it comes to viewpoints on gun ownership, I just don't see how it's feasible to have federal law that balances the desires of everyone. Pass that shite along to the states and keep federal eyes off the issue.

I only crack the door and hand him or her a copy of the Constitution and my attorney's business card and then politely tell him to get off my property.

End of story
Sorry not even close to the end of story. There would be chaos. Plenty of sheriff's have already said that they wouldn't even attempt to enforce confiscation. I'm glad that I live in Livingston parish.

Too bad they decided the opposite.
frick off with your shite.

I agree totally with you. With the current trend of privatizing prisons, they could also outsource very unsavory people to do the dirty deeds. There will come a day when our current government folds. Nothing last forever. When, I don’t know. But future generations are not going to put up with all this senseless violence. I applaud the young people in Florida.

UBC's in Washington and AW registration in CT. Compliance rates are practically nill and the cops just shrugged their shoulders when asked why by the politicians.
