Maybe different sentiments from yours. I guess you think you prove intellectual superiority by your lame comment.

I think the most beneficial thing that could possibly happen in the gun control debate is for SCOTUS to hand down a decision that the 2A does not apply to those outside of an organized, state-sponsored militia. This, essentially, places the onus on each state to make its own decisions on gun ownership, control tactics, registries, etc.

Two problems with your rather uneducated thinking here; stare decisis from v. Heller and the fact that most states have their own version of the 2nd Amendment in their own constitutions, many of which are more explicit in protecting the individual right to keep and bear arms.

They would do what CA did. Give you until a certain date to turn in your gun, and if you get caught with it later, you go to jail.

No I just don't take advice from or put much stock in what a 16 year old that's obviously being manipulated says. The fact that you think they've got some enlightened message speaks to your intelligence or lack thereof.

I'm well aware of Heller. I'm also well aware that if you think that's the last chance SCOTUS will have to rule on the 2A, you're just flat wrong. As to your mention of state constitutions, that's precisely my point...leave this shite up to each individual state.

The whole point of constitutional amendments is to NOT leave shite up to states, and your premise is preposterous considering there is an amendment saying what is supposed to be left to the states.

They just wouldn't have mentioned guns if your desire were their intent. You're essentially asking scotus to make shite up. You're a fraud.

Not just that but it would take at least a decade to accomplish.

EBR for instance:

There are ~450k people in EBR. ERB SO employees somewhere around 900 deputies while BRPD employs around 650 (raising it up to 800 to make the math easier and to include officers for Zachary, Baker and Central).

So you have ~1,700 officers that not only have to continue to patrol the streets, investigate crimes and staff prisons but now they have to also go door-to-door to confiscate firearms from 450,000 people (who, at times, may be violently resistant)?

Even with State Trooper support you're looking at maybe 3-4 5-man teams having to use SWAT-ish tactics to accomplish this, spending about 30 minutes to an hour at each residence to at least make an attempt at verifying that people aren't just hiding their firearms.

Let's average households at 4 people per house, that's 112k houses to have to search at (optimally) 30 minutes per house in an 8-hour day. 4 5-man teams are doing 8 houses per hour, thus 64 houses per day. 64 houses times 365 days (because they aren't taking holidays or weekends off, gotta get dem guns yo!) is 23,360 homes searched per year. At this rate it would take just under five years to search all 112 thousand homes.

The reality is that there are far more than 112 thousand homes in EBR, cops need time off just like everyone else and this doesn't even include businesses or the effects of a gun-owner taking a final stand. Also, this is with a bolstering from the State Troopers and it's only 1 parish. The exact same thing would have to be happening not just in every other parish in the state at the same time but in every county in every state as well as roadblocks to prevent transportation of firearms to avoid capture.

Basic math mixed with human nature says this cannot happen in this country. Ever.

Mississippi cops are very conservative. Lots of them wouldn’t enforce this. They wouldn’t quit they would just not do it. Kinda like not enforcing littering

Unfortunately I've seen this exact scenario play out in multiple countries. Cops are no different than the rest of us, and will put their families first. They will also use the opportunity to hammer opposing economic and political interests. The only thing that can keep that in check is a massive amount of brutal and relentless violence against enforcers. Even then, the state has ways. Recruiting cops and soldiers from outgroups is usually the ticket. It eliminates the key problem yall are alluding to.

They've already publically stated they wouldn't put in effort to enforce recently passed gun-control laws in the very blue states of Washington and Connecticut. If the police know they can't enforce comparatively mild gun-control laws, what makes you think they'll really put their lives on the line to confiscate firearms en masse? They won't and the SPD and LSP officers here agree with me. bullshite is what you're peddling.

Haha, so you think THIS is the line they won't cross? They violate the 2A and 5th,and 4th every. Single. Day. Get real man.

It will never get accomplished, but the state will try regardless. Most will willingly turn in their weapons. The holdouts will suffer brutal population control measures and violence in an attempt to "make an example". This is an old arse story, and there are no new twists.

If I lived in Broward County Florida, I would laugh, and tell them there was an active shooter in the neighborhood. Problem solved.

Says the guy who is too scared to live life without a gun. Who is the real coward? The Liberal that can fall asleep at night without a gun or you who can’t?

Cowards are people who walk around with their chest poked out telling everyone within earshot they have a gun. A person who isn’t scared or paranoid doesn’t have to have a gun.

Not very aware at all apparently. Let me clue you in on a very important detail about the v. Heller decision: it was 9-0 in favor of the "individual right" interpretation of the 2nd Amendment. Not 5-4, 9-0. That interpretation was upheld unanimously in two later SCOTUS decisions; Chicago v. McDonald and Caetano v Massachusetts. There will never be a SCOTUS decision that will overturn such a concrete rebuttal of the "collective right" theories of interpretation of the 2nd Amendment.

As for the states, that's what McDonald took care of.
