Matthew Yglesias:

— I think they are genuinely not thinking seriously about consequences. Virtually every Democrat in Congress understands that Saudi Arabia limiting oil production is bad for their reelection prospects and therefore bad for progressive causes. So why didn’t they spend 2021 applying that exact insight to domestic oil production? I think it’s a genuine cognitive error. They did not engage in enough critical thinking about the issue last year. When the exact same question is posed in a different context, they see the right answer and they want to do the consequentialist thing. But people can be very blind.

FIFH. Also, this is pretty much always the case.

They do not engage in critical thinking at all. It’s all emotionally driven decision making without any logic behind it.

They act like as long as its not happening in their neighborhood it doesn't matter.

It's not OK to have oil & gas production here, but fine if it happens on the other side of the world.

It's not OK to burn coal here, but fine in China & India.

It's not OK to have illegals on Martha's Vineyard but fine in Texas.

I tended to see a pronounced spike in this failure of cognition round abouts the time Trump won in 2016. Thus to me it’s probably as simple as they got ate up with any of the vicious strains of TDS that circulate about.

They were stricken with one track minds, in the literal sense. “He can’t keep getting away with it!!”

That's because they want to wishcast green tech into being far better than what it is because they have labeled fossil fuels as being one of their enemies they must destroy.

This is what happens when you start harming the very thing the economy runs on.

What did the Democrats do in 2021 to slow domestic oil production? We were still coming out of the pandemic slow down, yet US oil production on a monthly basis was extremely high.

Us oil production this year will be the second highest level in history, behind 2019. 2023 is set to surpass 2019 levels, barring some catastrophe.

This is what makes them so dangerous, especially when they get power and control.

This idiot STILL doesn't get it.

It isn't that they aren't considering the consequences. It's that they don't care. That's the part that these retarded liberals need to wake up to. This administration does not give a shite about the consequences of their oil policies because they'll never be personally bothered. Also, they view this as their version of Mao's Great Leap Forward.

The fact that people like this view democrats as stupid instead of evil is a huge reason why they still vote blue.

The reason is because the Head of the Department of Energy, Jennifer Granholm, has zero actual energy industry experience. She's basically been a college professor, government bureaucrat and politician her entire professional career.

Mike Wirth stated it in his interview this week with Financial Times. This Administration is practically void of any knowledge or insight into how the energy industry actually works in the real world.

This is not even the case.
They wanted this.
They have think tanks that are bringing America to destruction via their decisions.
Too easy to see that it’s all a plan that the uniparty (not just Dems) wants.

And then burn fossils fuels to get it here- therefore "destroying the world" even faster.

Actually, they do, between the months of about August-November every two years.

It’s really an understated moment (outside of this site or TexAgs) but when Biden said he was going to end the fossil fuel industry in his last debate with Trump, DJT was just dumbfounded enough that he didn’t hammer him like he should have. He just let the statement stand on his own.

Everybody knew with a brain that it was absolute political suicide and that the consequences would be really really bad for the nation if that became true but Orange Man was so bad they just had to run with it and pretend like it wasn’t one of the worst blunders in a debate ever.

When the democrats didn’t hit him with the heart attack gun after that happened (I don’t wish anything bad on him, just speaking metaphorically,) I knew we were going to be in for some rough times.
