Not really. Certainly, some straight people got HIV (though, the VAST majority was from other high risk behavior [IV drug use]) but it was (and is) an overwhelmingly "gay" disease.

You should not profile like that. Profiling is evil, and the single biggest issue we face today. We all need to take the Monkey Pox MRNA shot so we won't get the disease AND to show solidarity with the LGBTQXYZP+2² community. If we don't take action now, by getting the shot, the LGBTQXYZP+2² community will be stigmatized and irreparably harmed.

There was a pretty large portion of the population that contracted HIV by other means besides sex on IV drug use. I am not saying it was not mostly a disease of the gay population. My point was that it became much more than just a gay disease!
It is just like the sudden outbreak of Hep C in the bommer generation. It is a blood to blood transmission that is a huge problem with this generation. Not because they all used IV drugs, but due to the lack of awareness of sterilization of commonly used devices involving blood transmission, barber shops, nail saloons, etc. These processes really changed after the outbreak of HIV.

That might be the most embarrassing photo in US history.

Applying gun control logic, we should cut off all men's penises just to be safe.

And the two children with MP are believed to have been in contact with gay men.

Actually, the problem was it started spreading to the population in general because it was not called a gay disease when it started... Had they met HIV head on, there would have been very little cross over to the general population...

Though you are right that some got it other than gay sex. A large percentage of the ones who got it via other routes can indirectly be traced back to those individuals who were in that population. For instance, a large number of people who contracted it thru blood and blood component transfusion (ie, hemophiliacs) got if rom tainted blood that came from the gay population. many of the ones who got it through IV drug use got it from sharing needles with those who has a promiscuous sex life. It started in the gay community and spread outwards from there to infect the remainder of the population.

From the article:
“We have seen patients with severe rectal pain that worsens every time they go to the bathroom, genital pain every time they urinate and throat pain every time they swallow,” said Dr. Jason Zucker, an infectious disease specialist at Columbia University Department of Medicine.
sometimes God speaks to us pretty clearly.
