I think that is right. I think people are trying to twist this Malachi prophecy at this point.
Pope Francis wasn't named Peter either before, or after, becoming Pope (although all Popes have the Peter association). Pope Francis was Argentinian. He was ethnically Italian, but his ancestors were from northern Italy, not Rome. All Popes could be considered as Peter, and being Roman, since they live in the Vatican. Why would the prophecy choose to identify Pope Francis as "Peter the Roman"?

The quote was written 30 yrs after Jesus supposedly said it.

You take this axiom Jesus used and do not understand what he meant by it my friend. What Jesus was telling us in these verses was that he was going to return in the fall, sometime in the future (of course) on a Feast of Trumpets just like he died on a 1.) Passover fulfilling that Feast, and just lie he was without sin, fulfilling the 2.) Unleavened Bread Feasts (not called that) and just like he fulfilled the 3.)First-fruits [of the Grave] Feast. Jesus fulfilled all three Spring Feasts via his first advent on earth.
We are now in the Summer Harvest or 4.) Feast of Weeks, Jesus is fulfilling this as our High Priest in heaven as we harvest souls for the kingdom. This Feast was the only feast all alone in the Summer so THINK of the Gentile Church Age of 2000 years or so.
What always ended the Harvest Season? The Feast of Trumps (think of Paul's LAST TRUMP reference). HERE IS THE KEY TO WHAT IT MEANS The Feast of Trumps always began on a New Moon (Lunar time or God time) so they had no idea what phase would begin the new moon, but they had a very good idea when they were close, lets say there is a sliver left on a Tue. afternoon, it might turn into a New Moon just before Sunset, or just after Sunset, that is 2 different days there, or after Sunset the next day, so unlike the Morning and Evenings of the sun rising and setting, these Lunar Moons (at the time) were an unknown entity as far as their timings went. So, Jesus was telling them he was coming back on the Feast of Trumps. So, what did Israel do when they saw the New Moon? They blew the Shofar/Trump in 9 sets of 11 or 99 times, then on the Last Trump (100th Trump) the Harvest Season (THINK Church Age) ended. We can see in Rev. 4:1 when Jesus tells John to "come up here" that John said his voice sounded as a Trump. So, we can know almost to the day when hes coming and still not know the EXACT DAY NOR HOUR.
The other two Feasts jibe with the 7 Fests telling us the whole history of the world with God, he calls Israel to Birth Christ in the Spring Feasts, God then calls the Gentiles to take His Gospel to the whole world via the Summer Harvest, and He raptures the Church/Bride of Christ at the Last Trump on the Feast of Trumps, which now starts the 70th week of Daniel 9:24-27 up. Because as Daniel prophesied, before the 70 weeks prophesy can end Israel has to repent as a nation. WELL WELL, looks what next.
6.) The Feast of Atonement
Israel Repents just before God's Wrath falls, Zech. 13:8-9 shows us this, we see 1/3 of Israel repents whilst 2/3 refuse to do so and will perish then in the very next verse (Zech. 14:1) we see the Day of the Lord (DOTL) or God's Wrath arrives. Also, Malachi 4:5 says Elijah will return before the Great and Dreadful Day of the Lord (God's Wrath).
Lastly comes the 7.) Feast of Tabernacles, to TABERNACLE with God means to Dwell with God. Jesus is God the Redeemer, he will rule from Jerusalem for 1000 years, so I would say Israel will indeed be DWELLING with God, fulfilling the 7th Feast, just after Jesus' blood fulfills the 6th Feast by atoning for Israel sin, just after Jesus fulfills the 5th Feast by rapturing his Bride to heaven and ending the Harvest (Church Age Harvest) Season.
