Home health care is a hotbed of fraud with both Medicare and Medicaid

Home healthcare is draining the hell out of the country with fake charges. There is no oversight. They charge as much as they want whenever they want and it flies because they use and abuse loopholes.

Glad my dad’s wife entered last week.

Bad solution to a bad problem.

You are misunderstanding

It isn’t a moratorium on seniors to use Medicare for hospice

It’s a moratorium on *new* providers to enroll in the program

Yes I was misunderstanding. That makes a lot more sense.

The outfit that is doing my dad’s wife’s hospice is top rate so far.

I can’t imagine being in that line of work.

Good.

There should also be a law to prevent non citizens from running them... and shipping the fraud returns overseas.

My wife is a manager at one of the largest home health agencies in the country. Seems like she spends her days in a constant battle between her side (nursing/medical) and the marketers that are trying to bring in patients. Marketers bring in bullshite patients that have no business being in HH and then she has to fight an ethics battle with them. When she admits them, it’s her arse, not theirs. They and upper mgt only care about getting them numbers up

Did you read the article? They are not stopping the program, just the fraudulent enrollments through these hospice and home health centers

What they need to do is investigate how all of these 3rd world immigrants learned to commit massive fraud against the US government. It almost feels like someone has been training them to do this.

Sounds like corporate greed. The Marketers are getting paid on commission so they are like the more we sign up regardless of need the more we get paid.

Instead of going after the agencies, maybe they need to look at these marketers and what they are doing.

Wasn't there a national scheme with medical devices where a marketing company was working with several doctors from around the country to order medical devices and the marketers were ordering more than they needed or were never medically necessary.

One case in Texas that Cost 59 Million

Maybe Medicare needs to go more HMO or managed care like and provide prior authorizations, and ban marketers from practicing medicine and allowing them to order devices to be paid by Medicare.

I would not have thought so many people figured out they could get rich scamming government entitlements. Naive I guess.

My Mom passed a couple months ago and Hospice was a godsend. They were super competent and very sensitive. They were a HUGE help.
I hate the fraud, but I also hate to see anyone truly in need of Hospice care not to receive it. Especially a retired person that has paid federal taxes their entire working years.

I don't much care about folks that don't fall into that category.

A physician friend said to me in a private conversation that beyond the fraud is outright murder as hospice care outcomes are supposed to be for end care to help patients who are terminal, but instead they end up over-medicating them with morphine, incidentally or purposely or accidentally, it doesn't matter, and they suppress the body's system with other drugs the patient takes, and the result is that patients who have six months to under a year to live with proper care suddenly turn worse with the introduction of hospice care where it's about the churn in patients to free up assets to continue the churn. Hospice care gets paid the same by the government whether the hospice care is two weeks or six months, so there's an incentive to 'snow' patients.

Just pass a rule stating 'If Your name Is Somalian Don't Apply For A License", no matter what Walz and Newscum tell you.
