Johnny Carson's interview on 60 Minutes.

Unfortunately and sadly.... Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, etc... did not take Johnny's advice.

I grew up watching Johnny Carson with my parents. Honestly, I could never tell if he was a Republican or Democrat.

There's a reason that he lasted as long as he did and was as successful as he was and it's not just that people had nothing else to watch it's that they wanted to watch and that's how they ended their day. Neither he nor Michael Jordan ever let on what political party they supported and they are the GOATs of their respected profession.

1) You could tell that Mike Wallace didn't care much for his answer.

2) I would say that Jimmy Kimmel would've done well to heed Johnny Carson's advise, but Disney/ABC placed the little propaganda puppet in that job to do exactly what he did. Act as a mouthpiece for his corporate media overlords.

Kimmel sure as hell didn't get the job because he was the best entertainer or talk show host that D/ABC could find.

Johnny Carson was the last time late night was any good.

I didn't even watch Leno when he took over.

Pre 90s USA, people understood how to act in public far better than todays people (except the 60s, which todays progs are trying to recreate.)

Never saw much public dysfunction, rarely saw entertainers politicizing things.

We've been trained to be reactive and to believe our rights dont need balancing responsibilities. We think our right to speak our mind trumps everyone elses desire not to hear it.

The world was a much better place when people didnt need to tell you what gender they were and what their politics/religion was.

Civility is dying quickly.

People do not understand how much more civil society was when media, especially television, was also civil.

We are what we see and hear.

Leno followed the same rule. Carson was spot on about the danger of entertainers feeling self-important.
