The way BoomerCons feel about Israel is how I feel about Argentina.

Don't know much about Argentina do you? You fricking morons think Milei fixed decades of communist destruction in two years?

Bessent's hedge fund buddies invested some money down there
the libertarian god Milei ran the govt broke and the hedge fund guys were about to lose their arse so they bailed the govt out

They are trying to invest in Argentina in hopes they rebound.
Definitely a risk here.

No asswipe, that's a whole lot of I know what I am talking about....if Trump is propping up Milei for political optics, it's a show for nothing. We are essentially underwriting and guaranteeing IMF loans and trying to provide the Argentines just enough money to make interest payments. Their obligations to their creditors outstretched....almost their ability to pay.
They are fast depleting their reserves as a government as they keep exchanging peso's for dollars....meanwhile we hold the pesos. It's like you are getting away with paying for a Steak dinner using photocopied dollar bills and hoping the waiter and management don't realize it until they are counting at the close of business and you are long gone.

Massie almost gets it right.
But people aren’t going to buy direct from a farmer. We all don’t live next to a cattle farmer.
Libertarians go full retard too often.

You lost all credibility years ago. You lost it in this thread claiming Brazil is the better bet

Do you bring anything substantive to ANY conversation? Even at home? Good thing English is not your wife's first language.

If the conservative government is so awesome then why does it need to be propped up?
If you spent much time looking at Argentina, you would know that it's not just a question of "good ideas" winning over "bad ideas". Just as in the states, you have a large entrenched and loud population with their financial wagon hitched to "bad ideas". It's going to take a bit more than some good ideas on tv to get their financial house in good shape after 100 years of mismanagement.

The mental gymnastics some of you guys do to blindly defer to Trump is astounding.
What happened to America first? American cattle farmers? That is what he ran on no? He also ran on not giving so much foreign aid but here we are.

I don't love it -- and I don't love regime change ops in Venezuela. But, I guess it's better than money going to Ukraine and elsewhere. I do wonder if Bessent and Lutnick arrange some of these things for personal interests.

$40billion to Argentina - what’s the purpose?

Brazil is objectively the better bet. I'd do business with Lula and his people than I would anyone in Argentina. Stable currency and growing economic base that is not as dependent on agricultural commodities....and a larger population.
Tell me kind Charter Boat Captain, what do the Argentines bring to the table....besides good steak and Malbec wine........and soybeans.
